New Order Express system works!

I just got the email to test it out. Not sure we will since we have SciFi for lunch but it sounds interesting. Wonder if they will have to hire more people (and raise prices) if the delivery part takes off.

Took no more than 4 minutes to receive the order after it was placed and there was a decent sized line.

I want to use this in fantastic as the lines were HUGE!

Can you imagine having someone bring you and your family your hot snacks during show times without the waits or risks of spilling things tripping over people!?

A without a doubt huge convince this will be!

Fantasmic is probably where this service is the most convenient. Hopefully it works just as well as it does at Backlot Express.

Exactly! We sometimes like to eat at Fantasmic before the show, but those lines and trying to get back to your seat was a misery!

I don't actually care if it's faster, I don't have to stand in line or carry food for 5 back to our seats! I'm sure it is much quicker though since you eliminate the ordering line altogether. Each guest has their own virtual cashier.:)

At a qs location it at least solves the issue of standing with a tray of food and no place to sit.

Please let them make this permanent!

Please oh please Disney, do this at Columbia Harbor House! I will stand in the line, no problem; I will eat upstairs happily; but I am WAY too clumsy to carry a tray of food upstairs there by myself, and I miss that place.

I got an e mail message about this during our trip this week. I didn't download the app because I didn't know if we would be eating at BE. It turns out we did eat there on Wednesday because my daughter wanted the buffalo chicken nuggets.

Because we were there shortly after they opened at 11:30, the express option probably wouldn't have saved us a lot of time. But, I do like the concept of not having to stand in line behind the family that doesn't look at the menu until they get to the cashier, then having to stand at the counter waiting for the order to be filled, trying to get back out of the line while carrying a tray of food around the kids who are using the railings of the exit line as a jungle Jim, and then trying to find a table. It has the potential of making meals at the counter service locations a lot more relaxing, even if it doesn't save a lot of time. But, at busy times, I could see it saving significant time too.

How does this make things faster? Or does it? :magnify:

I could definitely see it making the process significantly faster, especially during busy times when the lines at the cashiers can be pretty long. But, perhaps even more importantly, it could make the whole process more relaxing. I would rather be sitting at a table waiting for my order to be put together instead of standing in line at both the cashier and at the counter after ordering.

I see that the app has a space for a delivery fee. I could see them adding a fee if and when the service is fully rolled out, but depending on how big the fee is, it could still be worth it to make lunch a little more relaxing.

I can understand the relaxing part but right now I'm thinking of Pecos Bills. The wait time has gotten worse over the years (at least for us) and it's not due to the cashiers. If the kitchens stay slow or maybe get even slower because they have to juggle orders both from those in line as before and also online orders, it might get interesting.

I'd say it takes longer more because of the new forms of payment that have been implemented and guests struggles to use them.

Not from our experience. I've stood waiting at the counter for our food so long that I've wondered if they've forgotten us. People who have already ordered have been so jammed in the short little food queues that people couldn't even get to the cashier to order.

This has happened twice which certainly isn't scientific proof of anything but it makes me wonder.

you could be right. I've just seen a lot of people hold up lines because of their confusion with dining plan or forgetting their pin.

Wow that video probably contains the most information on Order Express that ive seen so far...seems really cool hopefully i get to try it!

Tried this at fantasmic last night. Ordered 20 min before the show started. After 5 min., saw the runner with our food heading over to us!

We tried this at Fantasmic on 5/8...never got a confirmation that our order went through and never received snacks and drinks. We were ok with that, as it's in a test phase and we really just wanted to see if it worked. Well, guess what...The charge definitely went through on my credit card!! Disney guest services is "looking into" it....... just watch your bill! As for pre-ordering at BoG, 2 orders of french onion soup magically disappeared from our order. They were there when I reviewed the order the night before....guess some West Wing dust got into our order! Still, love the idea of pre-ordering, checking in and having food delivered...

Wow, that's terrible. I would've guessed if they had some issues they'd occur at Fantasmic

Already a delivery fee at Fantasmic. Reports are that it is $3. Not bad if a big order but if just a drink and popcorn or a beer, a bit pricey.

just got the email for this today inviting us to try t this weekend. We don't do BE much, but I'm super excited to try it at Fantasmic! The last 2 times I'VE been the one stuck in the loooooong line for the much0desired sodas & popcorn and missed the beginning of the show!. :headache: This will make this sooo much easier if it works - and I'll GLADLY pay that delivery fee! Don't think I'd be so willing to pay it at BE though...

I tried it at BE, and it worked great. I even customized my order, and it came out correctly as ordered. What I didn't realize but is kind of neat, you can create your order ahead of time, then when you get to the restaurant, find your table, pull up the order you already created and actually submit it then.
