Stupid crane!! Going to be up 1/22-2/10....which includes our dates.

I hope they finish it early, I have a 8am CP reservation on the 10th and my pictures by the castle would look lively with the crane there but SO much better without it!

The crane was up last time we were there in Sept. too. Why don't they just decorate it like a bean stalk or something to fit in and leave it there all the time?
We are hoping for some family pics in the am when we go for breakfast at CP on the 10th.

We'll be there 2-10. This will be trip #18 for me. I think I enjoy the planning and anticipation more than the actual trip itself, but I'm still super excited. I think I'll ditch my husband super bowl sunday and go to the MK instead. Who's with me!

We will be there. My hubby doesn't care about sports either. And they added some lovely EMH hours, so we can have plenty of time to ride Dumbo at night with the pretty lights and fountains!

You might find me in Gaston's chair gnawing a pork shank!

The big part was behind or beside the castle, but the arm could definitely be seen during the day. At night they usually hid the arm behind the back part of the castle.

Cool. Love the Grumpy shirt. I got hubby grumpy sleepy pants and a grumpy sweatshirt at Disney store on sale online. He liked 'em.

all of my park days are planned on EMH days, we have never experienced a big difference either way. I have not been to DW during peak season so I could not answer for those times of the year but during off season I do not find a difference. We utilize EMH each visit.

I have been there when the crane was there, last January it was up. I can easily photoshop it, but I know not everyone knows how to do that. If you go to the LEFT of the castle, you should be able to get an angle that hides it (think over in the Crystal Palace area or the bridge into Frontierland...) but, you won't find photopass photographers over there, so not sure if that will help you.

ALSO...if you get a shot on mainstreet with photopass, with the castle pretty far in the background, there would be a chance that you wouldn't be able to see it too much. Do you know anyone that knows how to use an editing program? It takes me about 3 minutes for each picture, to remove it.

i don't have photoshop, or know anyone who uses it really, but i did check it out online and saw that you can get a free 30-day trial! so i might try and do that, i've used photoshop before and i know you can get tutorials online so i am positive i can figure out how to get rid of the crane as long as i can access photoshop!!

It's so hard to know what Disney stuff to buy for men isn't it? He's always the complainer so I got him Grumpy, he laughed and actually wore it so now he has several lol. This year I got us all matching fleece pullovers, Our 2 are black, mine has tink and his has, guess who, grumpy. Daughters is purple with Rapunzel. My parents were supposed to come on this trip with us so theirs were red Mickey and Minnie ones, but someone rear ended them at a stop light going 50 and fractured my dad's back last month, no traveling for them

I am curious about the Disney app for the wait times. We usually use UT to see the wait times which are submitted by guests at the parks. Does the Disney app use times submitted by guests or is it their own system?

ADR for 8:15. We will be a party of 10...Bride, Groom, Sis, 4 parents, 2 Grandmas, and an aunt. All adults. Several late sleepers. I scheduled AK the day before with a 7:30pm Boma so everyone could get to bed early. We'll see if that works. I may be standing in front of the castle all be myself.
I have learned from past trips that I alone must do all the planning and prep, copy off ADR schedules for everyone, and then let it go and enjoy myself.
I will NOT be a cat herder. (repeated 50 times)

I'll have a LGM on my Si & Am Messenger bag. Hope to see some fellow DISers!

The wait times seemed to be the official times from Disney. I was watching the wait times on the Disney app at Christmas time, just for fun, and reading what people who were there were saying about wait times. The information seemed to be close to the same. People who were at Disney during Christmas week were giving reports here on the Dis forums, reporting their wait times.

I have an iPhone5 and the "My Disney Experience" app is great at showing wait times, show times and park hours. It isn't so great at getting the reservations straight, though. It will be handy to use while we are there to find out what time the next show is or how long the wait time is for a ride that is halfway across the park.

I haven't checked to see if it can do it but GIMP is a free photo editor that seemed to have a ton of features. I just used it for coloring blocking a few black and white photos and it worked great!

Just an alternative in case the trial runs out or doesn't come with all the features or something!
