New Offer Coming per Touring Plans (Free Dining)

So what is the consensus as to WHEN (if :rolleyes1) FD will be announced for late summer?

If i already have my flight booked through disney does that need to be re booked?

If you keep your dates the same they can probably just change the disney hotel/pkg portion. But really not sure since I always book my own airfare seperately.

This might be a silly question but I'm curious so I'm going to ask it. We are going to Disney December 19 - 26th. If they offer FD for the first 3 weeks of December can we get it for the first couple of days of our trip or no?

Historically, if you book the first day of your trip during free dining, then the free dining applies to your whole trip. So, for example if the last day of the free dining promotion was Dec. 20th..but your trip started on the 19th.. you would have free dining the 19th-26th not just the 19th and 20th.

I agree. We'd love to try a monorail resort. Free dining is worth the same regardless of whether it's a mod or GF.

that's not necessarily true... it is if there are no other discounts offered, but if there is also a resort room-only discount available, then free dining may not be worth more than what you could save by not paying rack rate!

an example of this would be... a $400/night room at GF w/a 40% off resort discount saves you $160... if you have two adults and two children free dining would only save you approx $120... if you have four disney adults, then it skews the equation... so free is not always "free" nor is it always the best deal in town!

Right. That's why I was agreeing with npcougar who would rather have a room discount. What I meant to say was the value of free dining is a fixed amount. We are a family of 4 both kids older than 10. Our "discount" won't change by staying at a more expensive resort.

I'll appreciate free dining but I'll admit to being greedy and wanting a room discount so we can stay at the WL again. :cool1:

I just read in a newsletter that the FD had been offered for other countries but you were required to pay for a $100 Photopass to qualify. That is not something I would be interested in normally so it would depend on the other costs as to whether it would be worth it for us.

FYI - I just received the allears.net newsletter and one of their "All Ears Hears" comments was as follows:

....from Josefina Leiva in Buenos Aires, Argentina: Just wanted to let you know that Disney World has released a new Free Dining Plan promotion for Spain, Portugal and Latin America residents. Travel dates are from August 28 to September 24, 2011. The promotion is very similar to last year, but this year you must also book a Photopass Photobook ($100 per room) in order to be given the free Dining Plan. If you stay at a Value Resort, you get the Quick Service Dining Plan for free. If you stay at a Moderate or Deluxe Resort, you get the Dining Plan for free.

I hope this is a sign of things to come for everyone here in the US and Canada:goodvibes

Question, so in reading this thread it sounds as if - IF free dinning is offered, each hotel gets a certain number of rooms they can apply free dinning for and then you are just out of luck - is that correct? If so, do you know if it's a certain number of rooms period (i.e. 100 rooms per hotel) or is it a certain number of rooms per month or per week that they can offer it for? I am guessing the minute it's announced everyone on the dis will be online booking or calling. So what are the chances of getting it if you manage to get through the first day? Can they really be all gone in a few hours? To be honest before I found the dis I never really knew to look for pins and discounts and FD and so on so I'm guessing many of the general public doesn't realize it as well. So dissers will be all over it but will others? Do I still have a shot of getting it if I manage to get through on the first day or do you really need to call during the first few hours??

TIA

fingers crossed -- a nice discount would make all the difference in the world in the economics of a potential adults-only fall trip this year.

It's a set number per room type per resort. It all depends on current availability. For example, if all bunk beds garden view at WL are reserved, there won't be any available under the promo.

If you call on the first day, chances are good, except for very specifics. You should be prepared to change room types and maybe even resorts.

All is done with the purpose to fill capacity, not to give us a discount...

The amount of rooms per hotel will be based on how many unsold rooms there are at a particular resort. if a resort is very highly occupied then it may never have rooms available for the promotion. It's a good idea to have a backup resort in mind if you really need to take advantage of a promotion.

Hope this helps!

Due to the popularity of what's called NJ week (1st week of November) last few years FD was not available...

NJ week is not always the first week in Nov. This year it is the week of Nov 10 & 11th 2011. NJ week is when the NJ teachers convention is held and most schools are off so families go to Disney.
FD could still be available for the first week of Nov but usually is excluded which ever week is the NJ week . Hope this helps someone.

I am praying for FD the end of Oct/ begining of November!

You know, this makes me wonder what will be left to book for North America. The U.K. has their offer, we already had our offer earlier in the year, and now this.
TP said rumors of a tasty discount.. they didn't say North America again:confused:

I certainly hope it's offered here, but this makes me wonder.
