New Norway film on the way!

ok - show of hands
has anyone actually sat through the film in Norway?

we never have!

Not only have I sat through the film, but I've joined the Society for the Preservation of Ancient Norwegian Monuments. They sponsor the stave church at the entrance to the pavilion. (I'm a fan of stave church architecture.)

The quarterly magazine is written entirely in Norsk, as is their website. I can provide the link if anyone's interested. The pictures are very nice.

Call us weird, but my husband I love the video and always watch it when we do the Norway ride. I'm glad to know that an updated version is on the way for next year!

DW & I have also sat through the film several times. The entire exhibit has definitely made us more aware of Norway and has made us want to visit the country sometime.

Come on guys! LenTesta has offered a link to get you a membership into the Society for the Preservation of Ancient Norwegian Monuments, which includes a newsletter written in Norsk!

What? NO TAKERS??

LenTesta, maybe you need to bring SPANM down to the level of us on the DisBoards by answering a few questions:

1. If I travel to Norway to see the Ancient Norwegian Monuments, do you recommend getting there first thing in the morning, or do they have a FASTPASS system?

2. If I stay at an Ancient Norwegian Monument Resort, will they let me in an hour early to see the Ancient Norwegian Monuments?

3. My son is 42" tall. Will he be able to ride the Ancient Norwegian Monuments, or will we have to use the Ancient Norwegian Monument Child Swap area?

4. Any chance they'll spin off and start an Ancient Norwegian Monument Cruise Line?

5. I assume the Character Breakfast consists mostly of Ancient Norwegians. Are Norsk interpreters available? Do Ancient Norwegians smell funny? (I know for a fact contemporary Norwegians smell just fine!)

------------

Sorry. Slow morning. Just kidding.

DH and I have seen it a number of times. It is a very enjoyable movie and is a nice cool place to take a break!

Stayed for Maelstrom's film at least 5 times in the last couple of years - we really enjoy it!

It's a nice comfy theater, and no special effects - China's film makes my middle daughter seasick!

Now if they could just change the CANADIAN film...It's the same as when I saw it in 1982!!!

Time for a change.

CVW, yours is the funniest post I've read in a long time. I plan to steal from it shamelessly.

Drop me a line with your address and I'll send you a copy of the 2005 Unofficial Guide when it comes out: len@touringplans.com.

Len,

Thank you kindly. I consider that very high praise. I already have the 2004 guide sitting next to me in my office. (Thankfully, I'm the boss, so I can't get in trouble.)

But one can never be over-unofficially guided. I look forward to getting next year's copy. You'll be hearing from me soon.

Sat through it once, that was enough for me ;) Though I do enjoy checking out that beautiful church and the ride!

Thrilled to hear about the new film!!!!!!!!

Yes... My father loves all of thole World Showcase movies. Dont get me wrong they are good, but i pretty much have them memorized.

My family and I sat through it for the first time back in March. It looks like it could use a little updating. Actually I enjoyed watching it and would love to go there someday...maybe during my Northern Europe cruise!!!!

I love all the films in WS. The only thing I didn't like about the Norwegian one was the sound. One second it's nice and quite, the next it's booming! I'm looking foward to the change.

okay that post with all the norway stuff was hilarious LOL.

I think that Norwegian super-group a-ha ought to host the next movie! Come on, it would be fabulous and the music would be awesome too! :) (no i'm not joking here!)

funny story; we went through the ride last time we were there and my dd had never seen the film so we said 'it's educational, we'll go see it'

well, we sat down, the roaring sound starts...the ocean..the helicopter...and...no picture LOL.

we were the only ones in the theater, except one single british gentleman behind us a few rows. he found my daughter and my hysterical giggling quite amusing and told us so on the way out LOL. we felt our way in the pitch black out of the theater and told the first CM in the gift shop that the projector was out.

we decided to ride the ride again. when we get to the end, the guy says "there will now be a short film..." and before we could tell him the film projector was out, a girl comes up and whispers something in his ear and he says "Oh, there won't be a short film. Sorry."

ROFL!!!!!

priceless.

that night, when we all got in bed and it was dark, dd chimes up with..."The spirit of Norway is its people..." (and she was only7, and she did it with the accent) I thought we would never stop laughing and go to sleep LOL.

Yes GeekChic, Take on Me...take me on...I'll be gone.....boy did he/they have some range! I think I'm giving away my age, oh well! Didn't they get their picture on postage stamps in Norway?
I had their tape some time ago but dear only knows what happened to it. Loved them!!

I've seen the film a few times too, not every time, but several times. I can picture that little boy touching the ship at the end. But I'll be glad to see a new one!
