I heard that Universal will be doing a nightly laser/firework/something something? show now. Does anyone know if that is just for the next couple of weeks? does it continue throughout the summer? I will be going to Universal with my family (it's my family's first time) May 13-20. I was just wondering if we will be able to see the show.

Also, during that week will the crowds be light? We are staying off site and can not afford the 200$ a day express tickets for five people.

THanks for your help!

If your talking about the new night time firework show, it doesn't start until July 1st, so it won't be showing in May.

They may have some other type of fireworks going on but I wouldn't plan on it.

They are doing the regular fireworks this week and next for Spring Break. Like MamaKate said the new show doesn't start until July. There are usually no fireworks in May.

Could someone in the know (Phamton probably :) ) tell me whether the new night-time show will take place year-round or will it only be during high season? We are going in October and would love to see it :)

From what I understand it is just for peak time and special events but they may use the spheres during Halloween Horror Nights. It's just too early to know yet.

I know Universal didn't have fireworks until recently, and the were only at Universal Studios (and they let people from Islands of Adventure enter Universal for free a half-hour before the fireworks started). Is the fireworks show you're talking about the same one from last summer? Or are they starting a completely new show? It sounds like this one may be a bit like Illuminations at Epcot, and the old fireworks show was nothing like that. Does anyone have more information?

Here is an article about the new fireworks show:

The centerpiece of the Universal Studios show will be four huge spheres floating on barges spaced in the park's central lagoon. The three-story globes will essentially be 360-degree screens for Universal Pictures' most memorable movie scenes.

The film clips will be choreographed to movie-theme music playing from a new 300-speaker sound system and accompanied by fireworks and lasers.

"Universal 360: A Cinesphere Spectacular," will start July 1

Hopefully it will be on in OCtober then - I will keep my fingers crossed. Otherwise, it will just have to be an excuse for another visit next year ;)

We went around your same time last year and thought the crowds were light at US. Lots of space when you walked around. We used the single rider lines for MIB and Mummy so I'm not sure how long the wait would have been with the regular lines. We didn't go to IOA that trip so I only know about US.

No technical rehearsals then? I was hoping they'd be "soft debuting" it in early June (2-11), but oh well.

hi ! i dont no about universal but i no there is always a fantastic firework show on at epcot if you are visiting wdw and thats fantastic but i doubt you will beable to see the show at universal in May !

Yea, the new Universal fireworks sound a lot like Illuminations. Illuminations is amazing and my all-time favorite fireworks display. The fireworks, special effects, and music make it an amazing production. However, I love Universal films, so I have a feeling this show may beat Illuminations in my book! If the effects come together right, and they pick the right films, it could be great!

I'm looking forward to seeing this. Hopefully it will be running in last August.

This just isn't enough. Adding a 'little something' for busy times only just isn't a big improvement. Come on USF, show some of the moxie you had when you introduced IOA!

Bumping this. We had to reschedule our trip to the first week in October, will this be in place then? Hope to see something "new and exciting"!
