DH and I were really worried! You know how when you have new neighbors moving in, you are anxious, yet worried... will they be normal? Will they be nice? Well not only did we have new people moving in next to us, but two sets of new neighbors. The house next door to us and the one next to that sold w/in weeks of each other. We really lucked out. We got the best neighbors we could ask for. One is a young couple that's getting married in August..super nice, and the other is a couple our age with twin boys that are right inbetween our girls ages. Our kids get along so well and have entertained themselves for hours. We have found ourselves already sitting outside chatting with the neighbors. Very cool.

Just wondering if anyone else is lucky enough to have a set up like this?

hmmm lets see,, our side of the street,, garage,, our three lots with one house centered,, then three renatls owned by a family that has been on the block for years,, and 2 are rented to family members, not sure about the third( next door) it just rented last week and we havent met the ppl yet across street,, granny on three lots, house in centyer( yes our family ( me and dad) own 6 out of 11 lots on our block:) next to her are a family that has been here thirty odd years,, a vacant lot, and then a rental on the corner that seems to stay rented to very stand offish ppl.. the last three familys we never seem to see them or meet them, behind granny lives our mail man and his wife who is our flower fairy( she works at local nursery and green house and we always find plants in our yard to be planted this year she sent us 2 flats of petunias and 2 of impatients along with a antique rose variety that is goergeous:)) a guy next to her has 5 single rentals, most stay empty, a big house next to those houses the nieghbors no one in the area likes and then the lady thhat owns tjhat rental lives on the corner.. behind us on other side of our property is the weird older guy that gardens,, he built himself an antique tractor and was proone to run it aroiund at 5 am,, no mufflers,, it caught fire a few months ago otu in his yard and he was letting it burn instead oif calling fire dept,, granny saw the smoke thoughht it was my house or shop and called,, we were out with friends came home saw all the tire marks from a big truck in our yard,, smelled smoke,, was scared till granny called to tell us what hapened,, am still upset that no one caled my cell ,, the fire dept was all over my yard and i find out several hours later?? lol wish we had more nieghbors our age

I envy you-- I can't stand my neighboors!! They are some of the oddest people w/ no regard for others. The other side is so busy sucking up to the weird ones that they don't talk to us since we definetly don't get along w/ the weird ones. We are planning on having our house on the market by early fall (mid fall at the latest). 75% of the reason we are moving is them. We are trying to only look at houses w/ extra large lots so we don't have to deal w/ people so close (we live in a development-- our lot is 280 ft deep but its only 85 feet wide!!).

I like your sistuation. Anxious week for me.

The house on the right has been vacant for 1 1/2 years for tragic reasons. The neighbor committed suicide, and the widow just couldn't keep up with the maintenance. Her daughter didn't want to move in for obvious reasons. So she declared bankruptcy and it is tied in court. They were great people. Suicide is no way out, gambling is definitely an addiction, and the family is broken. The bank will auction the house on 7/1/04. I saw a couple looking around, and I asked them what they were doing. I asked if I can answer any questions, but they just gave me dirty looks.

The house on the left. The family whom are my age moved out to a larger house. It was depresssing. A single guy younger than me moved in, and he is pretty cool. He is engaged, and might start a family here. We talk once in awhile.

DW wants a bigger house, which seems to be a trend with her teaching friends. We'll probably stay here since the mortgage is affordable and the schools are great.

We are blessed with great neighbors all around us (knock on wood) ;) .

I never give my neighbors eye contact, they might want to talk

Just yesterday my neighbor across the street and I were talking about this, they are building a new house next door to them and we are not worrying about the kind of house, we are more worried about the kind of people that are going to move in. The other two houses in the same part of the street, are weekend people but at least nice people. I guess that my neighbor ( which by the way they are very nice people ) and I have gotten spoiled. Let's see what moves in , in a few weeks.

We have AWESOME neighbors- the type that I think will turn into life long friends. Just the nicest people you could ever, ever meet. We were just over there chatting- they are adopting a baby and they were painting the nursery and showing me stuff they bought and I had brought over a gift- a bouncy seat (a must have). They were so excited and I am so excited to see them so happy- they tried for a long time to get pregnant (IVF and other stuff) and it didn't work out, so this is an awesome time for them.

All of our other neighbors are good- some are kind of sloppy, but all good decent folks.

Oh my, don't even get me started! We are in a new neighborhood that is less than 2 years old. Well, all the homes are about full, except for the one to our right and the one across the street.

There are a few nice people, but none that I want to "hang" out with. The only neighbors that I liked abandoned me and moved back to the NE (I will soon be following!)

Well, the people on the left don't mow their lawn, PARK on the lawn, and we NEVER see them! I think they might be part of the witness protection program! :teeth:

I guess it takes all kinds!

The house directly across from me and the one next to it are both up for auction due to unpaid taxes. Neither lived in them long. I think they just got in over their heads w/ the payments. Doesn't really matter who moves in there-- I'm still heading out.
