New name for Disney-MGM Studios announced?

As much as I love the Harry Potter books I feel that Universal's plans will also underwhelm. 20 acres out of 80- and they are spending 25% of what Disney plans to spend on DCA's rehab.

I like the name Disney's Hollywood Studios. Besides, we started calling it Disney Studios after our first visit.

But IOA is already an excellent and consistently consided a top class theme park that doesn't need to be completely overhauled like DCA does

DCA refers to Disney's California Adventure, a park Universal wouldn't have made THAT bad if it had built it.

when i was down there last month alot of CM were saying different things some were calling it "the disney studios" and some were calling "disney's hollywood studios" so who knows i dont think they are definate on anything with the name yet... but honestly nothing more original than that??

Jim Hill has a theory that they chose the Disney's Hollywood Studios name so they could change the name slightly during special seasons :

To explain: Mouse House managers had pretty much already agreed to rename MGM "Disney / Pixar Studios" when one executive reportedly pointed out that Pixar wasn't really a name that was associated with horror. Whereas "Disney's Hollywood Studios" is a name that can easily be adapted for all manner of seasonal events (i.e. "Disney's Horrorwood Studios" and/or "Disney's Hollyday Studios")......

Per the rumors floating about, Bob Iger wants to have only three brands: Disney, ABC and ESPN. You notice that Disney is already renaming a lot of the "Buena Vista" companies and Touchstone Pictures has all but disappeared (like Hollywood Pictures, the name will be only the movies that Disney is too embarassed to own up to). Touchstone Television has been renamed ABC Studios for shows on the ABC network.

There's said to be a struggle about getting rid of the Pixar name. That's why the last minute nix of "Disney/Pixar Studios". Iger wants everything Pixar rolled into "Disney", the people at Pixar say that wasn't part of the deal.


P.S. - IOA is 'Island of Adventure' park at Universal Orlando.
