***NEW MyMagic & FastPass+ Official Information & FAQ Thread***

I've had problems with the apostrophe in my name when linking reservations...poor data handling not processing special characters, etc. Disney is not unique there though. First time we did remote check-in for the airline, it took an hour, still couldn't print boarding passes and we ended up bringing our bags. JetBlue, when we checked in at the airport, then wanted $200 in extra bag fees, because they had us each having 3 bags because the bag check went through the system three times, but the boarding passes didn't...

I'm a Jr. and my son is III. We have the same problem with airline tickets. So far no problem with DCL or WDW.

Quick piece of advice fwiw... I would randomly check MDE every day or two to see if the option to customize my magic bands was available. It did and I customized them - they needed to be customized by oct 2nd. I also made all our fp+. Yesterday I got a letter in the mail from disney saying we were selected to participate and that I could customize our magic bands. If I had waited until I got that letter it would have been too late - so I would suggest people check MDE occasionally.

I have 3 FP+ reservations for each of my days at the parks. I've read that while at the parks you can add more based on availability.

Does anyone know if this is true based on experience? If so, can you add a 4th after you've used your 1st or do you have to wait until you've used all 3 originally scheduled FP+'s and then you can look to see if a 4th is available?

If it's the latter can you then try for a 5th (6th)?

I ask because under the old FP system, over the course of a 12-hour day in the parks, I may have pulled 10-12 FPs. This new system seems limiting in quantity for those who got the most out of the old system.

I got my magic bands and that letter yesterday... Had to laugh b/c they came on the same day..

FYI:
My sis waited until she got the letter..
She got her magic bands two days before her trip, :scared: however upon arriving they gave her GRAY magic bands because the other ones would not work..
They didn't even try the other ones, just told her because she order her magic bands so late, they would not work.. :confused3:

Looking through my FP+ options, it's interesting to see how they change from day to day.

As someone else said, "interesting" may not be the best word. We just linked our YES tickets and got our bands this week. Have booked most FP+ attractions, but holding out for Wishes and MSEP for one night, they are not an option for any of the days we are there (Oct 29-Nov 6) Do these pop up closer to arrival date, or is it just random. Illuminations is available only on the Sat we are there, which is really a day we want to avoid Epcot completely.

Getting more does not seem to be consistent, but most reports I believe are that you cannot get more.

Does anyone know if you can use FP+ in multiple parks in the same day? We often spend the morning in one park, take a break in the afternoon, and visit a different park in the evening.

No, you can only use it in one park on any given day.

Sorry if this has been asked (which I'm sure it has) but I don't have time to read through the whole thread.

I'm going in November and made my 3 FP+ reservations each day. When I get to the parks, will I be able to use my room key (which I was told i would get in addition to the magicband) to access the old fastpass system? Does the answer change if I'm in a different park and not the one where i have my FP+ reservations.

Thanks.

So far, you will be able to use the KTTW card to get Fastpasses like before, no restrictions.

do you get those at check in? I am trying to decide if I should order park tickets on line so they are mailed to me or order them on phone so I can have them directly linked quicker since I am approaching 60 days. A CM is telling me if I order on phone, I will not get a hard ticket that I can use for a fast pass. Another CM told me that I wouldn't get a KTTW card if I get a magic band.

Yes, you do.

Disney could always change it, but right now, guests still get KTTW cards, regardless if you have tickets in a package or separately.

CMs on the phone rarely know what is going on in the parks.

This thread is so helpful. I've been in denial about the whole magic band thing because we've been doing things the same way at WDW for the past 10 years... and now I don't know what I'm doing anymore! Guess I'm not so good with change! :confused3

Anyway, we got our invite to participate and I want to be clear on two things:

My husband will be using his PAP for the first three days of our trip and a new, unused 6-day MYW park hopper (purchased from UT) for the remaining days. Am I correct in understanding that I can attach both tickets to him upon "registration" so I can select FP+ for the whole trip?

Also, we are traveling with another family. Assuming they are also selected for magic bands, is there a way for me to book FP+ for them too... so we can make sure we can do things together? I've heard conflicting information. CM told me no, but others seems to suggest you can.

Advice appreciated!

Hmmm. I wonder if anyone who has had morning FP+ and used them has tried to get more in the afternoon?

We go in 10 days and have morning FP+ on Monday the 14th. I may give it try unless I read here that it has been tried and it can't be done.

So, my TA had previously told me that we weren't supposed to get MBs/FP+ for our trip (21 days!). I asked her for more info, & here's what she said:

"Apparently, the rollout has been jumpstarted by the blogosphere which has really taxed the system at large. Apparently, while the system was “live” and people are accessing it (like yourself), they should have only been using it if they’d rec’d an invite from Disney to do so. That was the design anyway (I guess they should have clamped down a bit more then). So, right now, there are more people than were intended to be on it which is causing some problems on the park side."

What do you make of this? Seems to me that Disney made this problem for themselves by managing this project very badly.

If Disney doesn't want guests using it, they should not have given access to it. Duh!! Seems like it would be a simple fix to their problem. And if their system can't handle the volume now, what will they do when most everyone is using it?

Exactly! If I go into my MDE account and there is a live button to customize MB's or make FP+'s how am I supposed to know I'm not supposed to use it?! WDW can't blame their customer for this! They probably have a valid argument with the BOG FP+'s since people are using an unadvertised (ie. publicly promoted by WDW) website without the invite, but they can't blame their consumers for the rest.

I personally think this is just stressed out CM's who are having problems dealing with the volume of issues & IT calls/tickets. Didn't Disney tweet last week that they were considering it a "soft opening" for all resorts by December 1? (thought I read that somewhere?)

I am guessing the TA is putting in a little opinion there.... Because Disney has even talked about the testing at certain resorts and it being for everyone and if you don't customize then you he a grey band....

They know how to limit the system. So I they isn't want people using MBs then they would have not invited everyone. It's not like people were sneaking onto a website that was hidden (like BOG) but rather a website that we have been encouraged to use to plan and share...
Every time it call member services they ask me if I'm all set in MDE. Have everyone linked etc... They want us on the site surely they know if a link says customize magic bands. Ppl will click it, and if it was wrong at first this wouldn't have been going on for MULTIPLE months, they would've shut it down.
