Hey all, I heard a “rumour” that international guests will not be able to pre-purchase the MultiPass LL. Has anyone heard the same or different?

Yes, I've heard the same. Here's Tom Bricker's FAQ on the new system: https://www.disneytouristblog.com/questions-answers-lightning-lane-multi-pass-disney-world-faq/

He addresses the situation about halfway through his article and reports that international guests can't book anything until they're in the US. He assumes that we might be able to use a VPN prior to our trips to book multipasses but I guess we'll find out for sure once the system's up and running and people can give it a try.

Definitely disappointing.

Can confirm. Saw it posted by a travel agent, and she posted a chat with a Disney CM confirming the policy.

I have emailed every guest services/member services/customer service email I could find, sharing how much of a disgusting oversight this is.

I am a Canadian resident, and am both a DVC member and an AP, and with this new system I am given LOWER PRIORITY for booking Lightning Lanes than an off-property guest. I, along with many other Canadian guests and DVC members, am often not arriving in the US until the morning of my trip, meaning I would have the last scraps of what is available. That is a horrific oversight and huge problem. While I think all on-property guests should have access to booking LLs ahead of time, at the very least your international DVC members should have some priority over the standard off-property guests.”

Aware that I will likely just get the standard “thanks for your feedback” email, but at least I can feel like I’ve done my part to try to voice the frustration.

My TA just said that international guests can book 3 days in advance (like offsite guests).

My understanding is the whole rationale for this is sidestepping international regulations - being able to book 3 days in advance does not solve this problem, so I don't think this is correct. However, we will have to wait and see. I am guessing we might be able to use a VPN or ask an American friend to help in the worst case.

I just chatted with a Disney CM in the app and they confirmed:

“you [international guests] will be able to begin their pre-arrival planning on the My Disney Experience Mobile App after you reach the United States on or after July 24th.”

There is a great business model for a US TA there. Making reservations for international guests who are staying onsite. That or I will have to make a little trip across the border to the nearest McDonalds and log in and make my choices there.

This too will be something they will have to change.

This is absolutely terrible. International Guests will be stuck with whatever is leftover after everyone else (on-site and off) has had their pick.

Well Done!!! I am also going to write to DVC Member Services about my concerns

I wonder if we could do a quick day trip to the US… would that work?
Or use a VPN…
Maybe DVC Member services will be able to assist???
That really doesn’t make any sense - we, too, are APs and DVC and have a trip in August. The news made me really excited initially but now just add a whole new layer of stress to the vacation planning…

If you remember the days of FP+, when you stayed off-site, you could never get popular rides such as Flight of Passage. That will be us. We'll get the leftover crap that nobody wants, and pay good money for the privilege of doing so. Way to go Disney! Another huge blunder. I hope it's not true!

Even if we can book in advance, I'm not sure this is a better system than G+. You can only book one of the premium attractions to start and on a busy day, by the time you can book more, the popular rides might be all gone. I also hate pre-planning my day in advance. What if you wake up that day and it's pouring rain, or you decide you would rather go to a different park that day?

Definitely email Disney and DVC about it. If we all complain it’s more likely that they change it.

A day trip would definitely work if you have that option. Not sure about the VPN—going to try it for our trip in the fall. So madddddddd about it though!

What international regulations? It doesn’t affect me since I live in the US, but I can’t imagine how outraged international visitors are. For the life of me I cannot figure out why they came up with this rule.

What regulations though? Why can we pre-pay for trips, dining, ADRs, races, magical extras, we used to be able to book FP+, and when we went to Disneyland we paid for G+ all in advance. I can’t see how/why it would be any different.
Even if we had to call DVC MS to add it on like we do for dining plan or APs it would be better. Not perfect, but definitely better.

Sorry, duplicate

Honestly, I think this was a communication error on Disney's part. It's based on 2 vague sentences in the press release to TAs, and a couple mis-informed CMs / chatbots. Tom Bricker is making some pretty wild jumps in logic based on that.

There are some higher ups who are "in the know" saying it WILL be available to Canadians. Give it a few days to correct.
