Without going into too many details Disney has gone crazy with procedures and rules as far as monorail ops are concerned and I assure you that they would be dropping power under their safety procedures. The department that runs Monorails is Legal. Legal thinks of every possible situation where they could possibly be sued and rules and regulations are constructed based on their legal analysis and not their understanding of operations or the practicality or implications of their rules, they construct rules purely on a legal point of view.

Safety is the #1 priority however it has gone to such an extreme that operational functionality has been severely hampered.

That's funny! They do the same thing to watercraft! They create chaos on the radio and in the operation because they want to try and prevent every possible problem and they are just making things worse!

I have to disagree, every lawyer I have met, does not have the ability to think of concepts or logic or systems. Only to react to what they here or are told. (Oh somone got hurt, somone could get hurt, we should avoid this in the future).

There is the problem, there is no logic to what rules are being made.

I'd love nothing more than to argue specifics about different rules however for that I could and would probably get in some serious trouble at work.

I will say have you ever observed the procedure for adjusting a stop so the doors will open when the train needs reversed 2 or 3 inches? which happens on quite a regular basis adding a 3 or 4 minutes delay.

And have you ever thought to yourself wow why is it only sometimes the resort monorail is running by 7am when its well past that time?

Here's hoping we get new trains sometime this century.

Here's a chance for Disney to influence the future of Central Florida, and Florida as a whole. The recent news about Gov. Scott rejecting federal money for the proposed Orlando to Tampa high-speed rail is a perfect opportunity to do what is right for Central Florida. Let's take a tried and true mass transportation system, requiring no R&D that is "shovel ready", and build a maglev system connecting all of the major locations and parks, from the airport to downtown, etc. This is local tech which could lead to many thousands of local jobs, and eventually connect to Tampa, Daytona, Port Canaveral, Miami and more. Plus, all the funding wouldn't have to come from the tax payer. This would be a major green step, and help alleviate our nightmarish traffic problems that are only getting worse. This could be a much more profitable system than the high-speed rail, and more beneficial. But we only have a week before they send the money elsewhere, so get in touch with your representatives, State and federal!

Yeah right! Disney will not even expand the system within the park and they're going to expanded to cover all of Orlando and maybe farther? Other than the legal considerations trying to obtain land (no eminent domain) they would also be helping competitors which they certainly are not going to do!

Is this what they are adding along the EPCOT line just north of the WL entrance? When we were at VWL over Xmas, they were adding some additional columns and hadnt done the beams yet. I would assume this is correct?
