deli meats unless you heat them first.
Tasha, are you around? I was thinking of you yesterday! Are you getting final stuff together, or is your little guy here a bit early?! Not much longer!

Hi ladies,
Well I'm back from the funeral services. Everything went as well as expected and I held it together. The worst was walking up to the casket and talking to June. I really had no words but she was glad to see me. The place was packed and standing room only. On a side note: stupid younger men should have given up their seat for the older folks and the pregnant lady. I didn't go to the burial or house afterwards, though I would have like to catch up more with my former co-workers. The viewing was last night and I was told over 600 people showed up.
Hope everyone is doing well.

I'm still here. I had another false alarm yesterday, complete with the oh-so-fun painful cramping and diarrhea but it never led to anything. I only have 5 days till the c-section so I figure he will likely stay put till then. The false alarms are getting pretty annoying though. I am still trying to get some last minute stuff done but, for the most part, I'm ready now. I just want to clean a little more since my mom is staying here with my dd while dh and I are at the hospital.
I am surprised that your twins are hanging in there too. They will be nice and healthy and a great size when they are born. Just think, by this time next week we will both be holding our babies!![]()

I am glad you were able to make it through the funeral. I am sure it meant a lot to your friend that you came but I also know it must have been hard. I know, the fact that they'll be not even 4 weeks early blows our minds! Bedrest and meds really do their job .... maybe too well!![]()
I'm glad to hear you're hanging in there. I can sympathize with the contractions, cramping ,etc. I feel like mine are practically nonstop, and then as soon as I get to the point I'd call the OB (after regular, close together x however many hours), then they stop long enough as if to say "Just kidding"!
Just a few more days! How long were you in the hospital after your last c/s?
Both of my kids have done this. They cause me to think, 'Hey, maybe THIS is it!' But as soon as I think it is time to head to the hospital, then things magically calm down. I had so many false alarms with Kylie and a couple with this one. I do admit I wait a long time before even thinking of heading to the hospital though since I am used to the false alarms...and so far I've been right. It would really shock me if I actually went into labor on my own before the 18th.
As far as c-sections, the standard at my hospital (and with my insurance) is to keep c-section patients at the hospital for 3 days and regular births 2 days. With my dd I arrived at the hospital early on May 5 to be induced (had her that night since we did not originally know a c-section would be necessary) and they released me on the evening of May 8. So I guess I was there about 3.5 days overall, if you want to get technical.
This time my OB has already told me that I will have my c-section bright and early on June 18 and will be released on June 21, as long as there are no complications or anything.
Have they told you how long they plan to keep you for yours? I am wondering if they might have a different set of standards since you are having twins or not or based on your insurance, etc.
I've had pretty intense contractions (not just my own opinion, but caught on toco, etc) for months now so I think I would probably end up going later than earlier! I tend to assume they mean nothing, even though they've obviously been causing cervical changes. Still we get our hopes up after an hour or two, because we're more than ready to move on!
Oh yeah, we've never been close to actually leaving for the hospital!I've had pretty intense contractions (not just my own opinion, but caught on toco, etc) for months now so I think I would probably end up going later than earlier! I tend to assume they mean nothing, even though they've obviously been causing cervical changes. Still we get our hopes up after an hour or two, because we're more than ready to move on!
As for the hospitalization, I don't think there will be any difference among singletons or twins. Assuming the girls do fine (and really, it has little to do with them), I will recover the same -- if it's a typical recovery, then it's between 48-72 hours (usually closer to 72), if not then of course we play it by ear. I imagine I'll be fine, so hopefully we'd be home Thursday morning...although we wouldn't complain about a late Wednesday discharge! I will be at the hospital at 5 am on Monday so I'll be more than ready to go, considering the hospitalizations I've had throughout this pregnancy have been shorter and I've still gone nuts!![]()
I stayed in the hospital 96 hours after my c/s. Our insurance covered 4 days, and since I had NICU babies, I opted to stay the extra day! It really didnot seem like I was out of the hospital that long though without the babies, because they got moved up to Peds pretty quickly, but it took a few days to get them a room of their own, so out of the two weeks they spent in the hospital, we spent their last 3 days with them.
Hopefully we can all come home ASAP though! Are you drinking caffeine? If yes, how much do you drink. If no, when did you quit. If breastfeeding, will you abstain?
) suggests that 300mg or less is recommended, and even more than that isn't proven to do harm, they just aren't sure (but obviously, why risk it?!). Seeing as 12 ounces of soda has less than 40mg, I felt it was more than safe, IMO! I obviously have no idea since I can't stand coffee, but if I was putting back a ton of it (or soda) pre-pregnancy I'm pretty sure I would have cut back significantly. If the babies end up staying longer for some reason (or if we'd have gone earlier), then I would absolutely opt for as long as possible, almost just to have "room and board" closer to them!Hopefully we can all come home ASAP though!

I know your girls are going to do great, as you hav edone a great job cooking them!! Can you believe you have made it to full term for twins? Awesome!!!! I can't wait to hear from you next week and see pictures!!!!!
And you know you can always PM me or email me if you just need to chat..those first weeks are wonderful but a bit of a blur!!!!![]()
We are in shock though, that's for sure! Most twin moms I'm in touch with on an IVF board are still hanging in for 38 weeks, etc but that's not even realistic for us. There's no point in struggling to keep them in at this point, and they are clearly on their way out -- scheduled or not!

My thing was not having as much newborn experience, but once these guys hit around a year old, it's game on!!! I guess you know I worked with toddlers before I became a SAHM. Never worked much in the nursery, but was the lead in the toddler room. I think it is great that you have the experience with newborns. I read a lot and asked a lot of questions from the nursery teachers and a friend of mine that worked in NICU. We did have a schedule from the get go, which actually the babies kinda put themselves on and we just stuck with it...we basically went from a 4 hour hospital schedule to a 3 hour schedule when the babies got their feeding tubes out two days before they came home. We still do bottles every 3 1/2 hours right now and with two solid food feedings in there now, plus sleeping through the night. Hopefully next month we add a third meal and drop a bottle.
