New Moms, Did this embarrassing thing ever happen to you?

I was pretty good when they were babies but now as I get older...nametags would be great!!!!:teeth: :bounce:

My first was a preemie and needed to spend 2 weeks in NICU. We had names picked out from the time I was about a month pregnant. My son's first name was my maiden name so I really should have no excuse, right? His full name is Kirk Stephen. One day, as he was laying in his little isolette, with the nurse standing next to me no less, I started calling him Stephen. When the nurse asked me if we were going to use Stephen, I was very confused. I had no idea what she was talking about! Then she tells me that I had been calling Kirk Stephen!:earseek: I didn't even realize it! A friend of mine had a little boy, about 18 months at the time, and his name was Stephen. I was so used to saying that name that it just came out! It took awhile for me to get used to say Kirk as a first name! Didn't roll off the tongue in the beginning of a name!;) One of my sisters even yelled at me because she couldn't stand saying it as a first name!

O.K., I found this SO embarassing when I was nursing that I thought she was going to talk about this: Leakage whenever you hear a baby crying.

I made the mistake of not wearing a bra on a quick trip to the drug store when DS was a few weeks old. A baby in the store started crying, and I got literally drenched while waiting in line for the register.

I got a card from MIL calling him Cameron "Justin".

LOL! That's MY son's name... not yours! LOL!!

Anyway, I have to admit, that I was so afraid of calling him the wrong name, I would say over and over ... Justin, Justin, Justin, Justin... etc... My DH and I could not agree on a name we both liked. We didn't name him until he was almost a day old. That seems so bad. I didn't want to name him Justin at first because we have close friends who's boy is named Dustin and I was soooooo afraid I'd call Justin, Dustin. Guess what. I have! I get so embarrassed! It's only happened once or twice, but I think I'm so afraid I'm going to do it, that I do, just to prove myself right! LOL!

Anyway, now his name is Justin and I'm glad, because he IS Justin! ;)

We used to tease my mother about this - whoever's name was last, was the one she was really looking for "Kathy-Chris-Gary-Gaillllllll!!!"

Now I do it to my sons - thank goodness there are only two - then I usually go into my Bill Cosby routine "You, there, boy - what IS your name? And don't lie to me, because I know where you live, and I'll find out..." ;)

Never forgot their names, but for some reason I have a TOTAL mental block when it comes to my youngest DD's birthdate.. It's awful.. Every single year I have to ask her, "Is your birthday the 24th or the 25th??"

I don't know WHY, but I can't remember the date for the life of me! One of these days I may get it tatooed on my wrist or something!!
