I was considering The Wishes Dessert Party as an alternative to Disney's removal of the Wishes FP but after hearing reviews and watching the view with the help of YouTube I am now considering getting to the Hub early enough to watch MSEP, CTM, and Wishes but stay in the same location for all three. Problem is I will be traveling with my parents who are very active but are older and standing for long periods of time can be hard on my mom. I am considering purchasing a light weight cane with a seat option. My question is this.. Is there any where we can store something like that until closer to the time we scope out a spot? I may end up having to go with the Dessert Party but like to look at all options.

Last trip we found a great spot for viewing all three near a railing with a concrete ledge that my aunt sat on. We were about half way between the hub and the ice cream parlor, just off to the right side of the street. It would be too far back to see a stage show, but great for Wishes, MSEP, and the castle projection show.

Well, there are lockers at the front of the park, but don't know how tall or deep they are. Would depend on how big the cane/seat is, so if it's folded, how much room does it need?

We did sit in area the above poster mentioned and it was pretty good for the fireworks and projection show. Just okay far as viewing for MSEP, as we weren't able to see whole floats or the dancers, etc.

I just looked at the map and see where you are referring to. I was hoping to up closer than that. Not sure how well you can see the detail on the castle from that distance.

Hi horse11, I would check with Disney first before you purchase a seat. I am assuming similar policy at Disney World, but at Disneyland in California, these cane/seats are prohibited for safety reasons. Staff will turn them away at the bag check (similar to selfie sticks), and Security cast members are instructed to look for them inside the park too.

Good luck in finding a place to watch and enjoy your trip!

Thank you!!! That would have been a costly purchase. looking more and more like we should keep our Dessert Party ADR. Sure hoping an alternative will present itself

Usually, I advocate getting a ECV offsite vendor for the whole trip. Have you thought about getting a Wheelchair or ECV for your parents at MK for the day? Upon return, you've spent about $100 for the rental. That may be helpful for your parents and they're allowed by Disney.

In 2011 my dad used one of the canes with seats at WDW for a week. We were never questioned for it. But, I do not know where to store it during the day...

I would keep them. Even if you are allowed to bring in the cane, I don't believe they would fit in even the large lockers. Plus, being allowed to use the seat option is up in the air, as any brought in seat (except rollators) are not allowed. The ground is not exactly level, and I would worry about the user tipping, or being bumped and knocked over.

I know the dessert party is pricey, but I think well worth it just for the safety aspect of it for your family. Sit, relax, and enjoy all the shows. Have some goodies to eat.

Keep an eye on the boards to see how things are handled in those FP+ viewing areas after FP is discontinued. It's possible they might just be open to the public, but the public won't quite realize where the entrances are or that they are even allowed in there.

Leaning more towards this option. We still have the ADR and it is making more sense for my parents comfort as well as my husband's crowd issues

This is a really good question.

Fwiw, if you mean something like these:

I saw a lot of people with them for watching the parade, back in September. Not sure if it was a fluke or they're generally not allowed -- if a person needs it medically I can't see how they can disallow it really.

The no Wishes FP+ has messed us up too. We were planning on using it our last night (doing a tour for the first half of the day, so no worries about saving fastpass for the end). Now I feel like a chump, as I went ahead and booked the Dessert Party after hearing about the discontinuation of the FP. We have done the Dessert Party twice and enjoyed it both times, but I swore I never would at the new price point. However, they've made it the only way to CTM (which is the one I really care about) without a huge crowd. Now, though, it's bumping up against our scheduled dinner at BOG. I don't want to go to the thing full, as I intend to stuff my face at those prices, so now I'm stalking for an earlier BOG. First world problems, I know, but it's still frustrating.
