New MK Paid Disney After Hours Event Announced

So, just to be sure I have this right I can pay $124 for 13-14 hours of park time or $149 for 3 hours. Ummm

o_O
Yes .. but LIMITED number of people during those 3 hours (and rides) ..
It also makes it sound like there will be special character experiences and special eats and drinks.

Still . a HARD sell at $150.

Most of the people this will appeal to will already have an AP or a multi day ticket. So while the extra hours are nice, they still don't bring much to the table.

Not only that, but you're only really getting three hours with a limited amount of guests. The first four are with the full day's worth of park-goers.

I suppose the selling point is really fewer guests in the park. If they charge that much more than the parties, it may be assumed that they will sell fewer tickets. Would like to know for sure how many they actually intend to sell per event. How much would one pay for 3 hours in the park with no lines to speak of? I won't pay it, but others might.

I remember when EMH stood for Extra Magic Hours. Now it stands for Extra Money Hours! I can't believe Disney is charging twice the price as the hard ticket parties (MNSSHP and MVMCP) for this!!
If this is a hit, you'll probably easily see the price of those tickets go up. People ARE willing to pay for Disney special experiences especially one that limits crowds.

At least it seems that these parties don't affect park hours like the holiday parties do, right?

This is just the start. If they are willing to charge $150 a head for this, down the road I can see $300 for unlimited Fast Pass+, maybe pay to ride in a parade, private character meet and greets…$25 to guarantee a role in Story Time with belle..sunrise with Mickey for $500…enjoy the MK before official opening with special mickey shaped toast! (toasters available for purchase)

I am not trying to be funny I can see all of these happening

Event goers will be able to enter the park at 7 PM apparently. Might affect crowd density in the hours between 7 and 11, like between 4 and 7 on party nights. But the hours themselves won't be affected.

I think it's been established that in some cases guests will pay to be in the parks early even if they are still basically closed (like the ones who book the BOG breakfast just to get in there). Maybe the mouse needs a way to milk that as well.

Since we're neck-deep in conspiracies, I'll just leave this right here...

It's all connected, Mulder!

Ugh. Sorry, I haven't read the 32 pages, but I'm assuming this means they'll cancel EMH for these paid nights? In this new era of nickel & diming guests I'm not surprised.
But for people who stay on site this is a slap in the face, IMO. And especially so for people who have booked the $$$ monorail resorts to get easy access to MK.

No way am I spending $150 per person for 3 hrs of EMH. And if you're a family of 4 that's $600 for 3 hrs :sad2:. That's what I paid last year for an AP!
I won't be paying a resort fee either.
As long as there are people willing to part with their $$ Disney will keep milking the cow.

Way back when, we had a short 4 day WL stay, and MK EMH was sched for 1 night during our stay. I had planned our touring around this. Then they took it away and slotted in a Princess & Pirates Party. I was pretty upset, as buying tickets were the only way we were going to get EMH. But party tickets were $35ish which I had to suck up and pay if we wanted EMH.

If Disney is going to take away the perks of staying on site- DME, EMH, MBs, there is no benefit to staying on site anymore for me and I may as well get a 1 bdrm suite in the DTD Doubletree for the same price as a tiny cubicle at Pop.
And with a discount code from Mousesavers I got free breakfast too when I needed a stay a night before Wdw package started.
Universal is looking better too!

So I haven't seen it mentioned but some of us may be partly responsible for this! Disney sent me a survey after the Christmas party and I remember some vague questions about being interested in other after hours paid events. One question had you rank what you would like to see at such a party- rides, characters, parades, special fireworks. I don't remember saying I would pay an arm and leg to attend....but it was a few months ago. :duck:

That's what 10 mickey bars and 10 sodas? I bet my 13 year old son could do that in 3 hours, no problem.
Lol..perhaps..my 10 year old nephew would love it too I'm sure. DH and I though..20 mickey bars and 20 sodas between the 2 of us? Not so much...and it's well past dd's bedtime (she's 3), so yeah...very much not happening.

More announcements coming? Special DVC event at AK? (total, wild speculation coming....)

I see Harambe nights making a comeback!

Yeah--I had that same survey. When I answered, I was thinking of the old E-ride nights which were a great alternative to evening extra magic hours.

We're also going in June and I've also been watching and waiting for the hours to update/extend. Now at least I understand why I've been wasting my time looking.

People are really willing to fork over an extra $150 per person for a few extra hours of shorter-line select number of attractions and maybe meet & greet additional costumed CMs? Yeah, I know the answer will be yes. More power to them I guess...

I'm still waiting for them to sell Disney air. A tank of Disney air strapped to the guest's back with a special rose colored face mask for $100. You can add a thawed out cupcake for another $25.
