New MK Paid Disney After Hours Event Announced

I'm not able to view the page properly (mobile or regular site) --- so I called and they have no idea what the MK After Hours was.

It would likely work for us if we can get the night we want as we wouldn't get to the park that day until after 6pm. We were planning to buy 1 day MK tickets for that night anyway so the difference in price between the 1 day ticket and the event ticket isn't huge --- especially if crowds are lower and some snacks are included.

I'll probably call again later --- hopefully the info will be out to the cm's soon

...and there's a good chance they'll have no idea when you show up either!

Maybe i'm just getting old, but I can't really get riled up over this.

Prior to this announcement, I had access to a resource for a certain set of dates and times.
After this announcement, there is NO CHANGE to the access I have to that same resource.
I now have a new option to pay for additional access that I didn't have before.
I see the price and I can choose to take advantage or ignore it completely.

That's it.

"But, but, but .... they will be getting rid of/charging for EMHs, the MNSSHP/MVMCP costs are skyrocketing, dogs and cats living together!"

When any of the theories bandied about come to pass, I will react to the facts at the time.
I have enough issues that I am aware of to be worried or angry over things that may never happen.

The problem I have is that my formerly "most recommended" MK day, which I have FP, dining, etc booked for, is now no longer going to be "most recommended" if the capacity for this event is at all large. It is less than 60 days out and an announcement that would have drastically altered my park choice for this day.

Post-residency and med school, sure, it won't be as frustrating. I will be able to spend this, and will be able to afford more than a once every few years trip. However, as a current student who is already spending at my maximum budget to make this trip my last WDW trip for probably 10 years---that amount of investment and feeling like Disney has now lessened my MK day is very disappointing for me.

Disney is expensive, but it is something that many are willing to pay for on these forums because of a love for WDW. This shuts out a lot of people, as well as making touring plans (which cannot be changed at this point) far less "magical". With all of the recent price increases, I think it is very reasonable that people are unhappy about feeling like they are getting less.

One of the DAH days is our departure day, which we plan to spend at MK. I don't think it will impact us much, since we will be out of the park by 3. Maybe slightly lower crowds if people do other parks during the day and then come to MK for the DAH? One can hope.

I consider the crowd impact to be important as that is when we plan to be there. When they start letting reg party people in a t 4 it starts to add to the crowds a lot. So now, when I am there until 11, to see MSEP, Wishes, I will have to contend with 1000's of more people after the same crowded areas to get a spot. That just ticks me off. As well as I am guessing they will be able to FP from 7-11, so us getting 4th, 5th...will also be impacted. Again, not happy.

It seems liked those of us not paying for the event will start to be cleared at 11pm. So, if in line at 10:55 we would still get to ride, correct? Then you get pushed toward the entrance, but will we still be able to shop and get fudge...on main street? Anyone know haow that was done at the DVC events?

From your post it sounds like you are a solo traveler. I think the calculus on this is a lot different when you are part of a larger group. (Considering the price, I'm going to consider anything 2 or greater to be a "larger" group!)

Actually, I am going as a larger group (Mom is joining me) and I wouldn't do either with two people in the equation based on the cost. I wouldn't do the Disney event either because it's basically $150 for snacks and extra access. I was giving an example of something that gives greater value than what Disney is offering at a lower price. Dinner at Disney world can run $40 to $50 even if you don't make it a three course meal, so that is a value Club Villain gives you over this. For example a Star Wars DHS event including dinner at let's say $129, I would be tempted to take a night off from group travel and try it.

What less are you getting? You don't have fewer hours in the park, nothing is taken away from your park day.
You don't even know the recommendations will change. Even if they do it's not taking anything away from what you have paid for

Nope, still not interested. Perhaps, and that's a big perhaps, if I decided to just do a 4 day pass for my dh, but added a 5th day using that $149 deal, maybe. We wouldn't go to a park that day, but enter at 7 and get those 6 hrs for the $149.
The whole 'number of tickets sold will be limited'? Yeah, limited to whoever wants to buy them. I well remember the 'old' days of the parties. We got so much more for our money...a less money than parties now!!! And as the years went by, Disney raised the cost of the parties, took away some discounted nights, took away the pins and photos they gave you free, all while selling more and more tickets. Some of the parties I've been to are just as crowded as a Saturday!!

I love Disney, I truly do. But, it's getting to the point where it's getting hard to keep that love alive. I can afford the cost....but, there is no way I am going to pay for that. It's money grabbing, plain and simple. They seem to be taking away some EMHs, charging an obscene amount of money, and giving you a small area of the entire park to 'enjoy', but heck..you get free Mickey bars and soda!! Maybe some corn dogs at Casey's. And sales will be limited...to what we will never know.

That's an interesting question. Because if it takes a while to clear day guests through the lines, then the guests paying for short lines end up getting even less than 3 hours of actual short lines.

So it looks like no restaurants will be open - just Casey's, Starbucks, and MSB (as well as the free refreshment carts). Perhaps the attendance count will be on the low end...

I think the 'non-refundable' speaks volumes. Since when has there been an event that you can't get your money back before hand? To me, this says that there will most likely be longer lines than people are hoping and nothing extra open or available, but by the time the first few parties reviews come out you'll be trapped.
