New Menus????

This will be my first Disney cruise so I won't have a previous one to compare it to. Without checking to see what the previous menus were like however, these menus all sound pretty delicious to me. Samosas, orange cranberry cheesecake, bring it all on! :) Hopefully the food quality won't fall short of the descriptions. I'm trying not to build the cruise up too much in my mind so I'm still blown away by the actual experience!

The current Lumiere's menu on the Magic has been said to be similar to the Triton's menu before the change. They are linked in the FAQ under menus if there is a specific dish that you are looking for. :)

OK, Now I'm lost again. LOL. Have the Magics menus change at all from last years or no? (Hoping they have not made any change)
:confused3

Anyone who does not like the looks of the new menu and the fact that DCL has left steak off as an option each night needs to email DCL. They have listened to guests in the past from email campaigns...reversed the added charge to go through the PC, returned the CB to the format where the characters come around to the tables and do pictures and autographs, and even the type of music that was playing in the halls outside the staterooms at one point.

I actually thought about maybe starting some sort of petition or petitionary thread, but I do not want to be labeled an alarmist or whiner. I was just thinking those kinds of things may get more participation from people that don't have the time/motivation to contact DCL but are still upset with the changes.

Don't get me wrong. When it comes to the changes on the menus, I see some positive things and some negative things. There are dishes that I am disappointed did not make it onto the new menus, and there are also some dishes that I am excited to try.

My concern is really just for my family, who are ten times pickier than I am. I assured them that basic options would be available to them, and I am afraid, I will not be able to make good on it. I could easily see them choosing to eat at the buffet every night, and leaving myself and my sister to eat in the dining room. And, it makes me sad to think that we would not all be eating together.

I don't know if you saw one of the earlier poster's posts, but she mentioned that getting the basic sides that have always been available, like simple salad and baked potato, is no longer an option. I don't know if white rice and french fries, etc etc are included in this change. I really hope that her unfortunate experience was an isolated incident, and hope to hear from people in the coming weeks, whether getting a basic side has been a problem or not.

Also, I noticed the dessert part of the menu was not posted. Anyone have that?

Any food that I don't have to cook myself, that is served to me still warm, is edible and I can eat without having to get up 50 times to get my kids something is good eats to me.....yummy, can't wait!

The Magic's menus are the same as they were last summer and the menus are posted from August 2008. Rumor is that they will changed in June 2009.

The Wonder's menus have all changed as of 3/2/2009.

If the Magic's menus change to there being nothing I will eat, I will just go to the DR with my family, greet our server as always, let my family order and then go to the buffet and bring back a plate of what I will eat and eat with my family.. I shouldn't have to do that, but for what I am paying I will not be forced to eat food I don't like

I'm not going to write and complain about it....even though I'm picky, I'll probably still try it. Besides, I can order room service later if I'm hungry...right? ;) Hehehe.

May 2nd Western. Were safe then. Yes!

The new menu reviews don't really do anything for me. I'll be happy to have the old ones one last time.

I am hoping that they will change again before the TA. There isn't a buffet for dinner at DCL. You can hit the fast food places on deck 9 or order off the menu at Topsider's. I am interested to know if they are offering steak on the menu still there. ????

I thought that the buffets were open for dinner. I've heard that you order your main dish off the menu, but visit the buffet for appetizer/salad/dessert -- Am I wrong?

This is a nice option for those that don't want a formal dinner.

Topsiders is even listed in the navigators as being open for dinner.

It seems people are really upset about the change in menu coming this summer, so it's nice to know that there is an alternate choice for people. Personally I think we just need to give it a chance. Disney is very accommodating and the servers go above and beyond to make guests happy. So if you speak up and let them know your likes and dislikes, they will do their best to accommodate your needs. I've heard so many happy stories about meal accommodations that I think we are in good hands.

Yes, Topsiders is open but it is not a buffet. There is a salad bar and you order the rest of your food from a menu. I was posting that because it sounded like you thought that you could just run up there and bring a plate right back to the dining room to join the rest of your table. Just wanted you to be aware that there would be a wait for the entree. Also we have not heard from anyone regarding what is being served at BBB right now which will likely also be served in TS. In the past it has been a selection of items from the main dining room menus so the only difference has been the dress code and the fact that you don't have to be there at a specific time to start eating. If they are changing all of the food on the dinner menu, I would expect the selections at TS to change as well. If there is no steak available in the dining room when someone complains about that, then I wouldn't expect it to be available at BBB/TS.

Thanks Lisa -

I wasn't the person bringing a buffet plate into the formal dining room, that was Renysmom. I was just confirming the dining situation for TS and BBB.

Thanks for clearing it up. I didn't realize appetizer and dessert would be served tableside too--very neat. Thanks!!!

Sorry, I didn't go back to see if you were the one who I had originally responded to.

Here are a couple threads discussing the offerings more. :)

Thanks! My son's 2 favorites are mac and cheese and lobster, he'll be excited.

Don't you love the iphone!!!?? I can't wait to use my GPS on the ship to know where we are and how fast we're going. it will be cool to see my track after running on deck, I guess it will be like a spiral from the ship moving?

FYI....I have the iphone and you need to call ATT and discuss therate while at sea. That actually recommend you shut to phone off for the entire trip. Their rates r very high for roaming. We went last year and off it went shortly after leaving port.

Thanks. I just used the GPS which is not part of the plan. Funny though I never quite got to go running!

I'm crossing my fingers that they'll bring back the steak options. And hopefully the filet will stay in Palo!

The Grilled Beef Tenderloin on the Trition menu posted is a steak. There is some sort of steak on every menu. I just got back from the 3/22-26 Wonder cruise, and had steak every night (AP, PC, Triton's and Palo)...(oh sorry, AP I had the Lemon-Thyme Chicken, but you can get steak). Everything was great...enjoy!!

Lisa...thank you for the excellent job you continue to do on the boards. I'm sure it is hard work, and you certainly should be recognized for your efforts.

I agree 100% that those who are concerned about the menu changes should voice their opinions to DCL. Having just e-mailed them with my opinions, I encourage others to follow suit.

I will be emailing them as well. I know we're really talking about the menus here but, I totally agree about the CB, I was VERY DISAPPOINTED!!:sad2: Our first cruise was great they came around to all the tables (the kids loved it) but our second cruise .... We couldn't even see them unless we stood up. The music was so loud my kids were covering their ears. needless to say we will be skipping it on this cruise! I know times are a little tight right now but I don't think they should be cutting back on the food.:sad2: DCL is NOT the cheapest cruise line out there and they sure can't start acting like it

But, it is not plain steak, and that is the concern. If you can get the steak just plain, I think people would be more relieved.

But someone mentioned that they asked for plain steak and were refused.
