New Menu for Nine Dragons

We never liked the kids offerings before but we used to order 2 plates of the Sha Sha Beef skewers and side orders of fried rice for the kids and they loved them. The skewers are gone from the appetizers and the new kids offerings are worse than before.

Nine Dragons used to be one of our favorite restaurants, but now I'm not so sure. We used to be able to get terrific food (for a Chinese restaurant in a theme park anyway) at a price that seemed to fit well with the quality and portion sizes. $16.95 for ~6 oz. of honey chicken with a tiny scoop of white rice on the side?! PLEASE! For goodness sake, I can get an entire meal (appetizer, entree, and an almond cookie for dessert) at my local Chinese restaurant for roughly the same price, and I ALWAYS receive the best food and service when I dine there as well. We'll try the updated restaurant on our next trip, but I'm almost positive I'll be disappointed.

What bothers me the most are those huge white plates. For the love of Walt, if they're conciously going to give us half the portion-size of what we used to receive, put it on a smaller plate for a more reasonable (see: less obvious)optical effect. I don't care if they think those plates are fashionable or cool. It's downright insulting for them to think they are only serving new people who have no clue how badly they are being cheated.

This is getting out of hand. Menus, portion sizes, service...

We were disappointed that we couldn't get a reservation at Nine Dragons for the candlelight processional. We got Teppan Edo instead. Now I am very happy that we did!

What bothers me the most are those huge white plates.

I know, right?!

We were at Le Cellier for lunch and I ordered the filet mignon (if I remember correctly, it was 5 oz.) thinking "hey, I won't have too much meat but the soup and mashed potatoes will make up for that." Boy, was I wrong!

When my entree came, I was shocked to see it brought out on a HUGE white plate with a small bowl-like indent in the center maybe 4 or 5 inches in diameter. This was half filled with mashed potatoes with the filet on top. I'm not kidding when I tell you that this meal could not have filled up the average 6 year old. Sure, the meat and potatoes were good, but for over $22 I really expected more... :sad2:

Disney really needs to stop cheating people with uneven prices and portion sizes.

I jsut went back and re read the review, I'm now wondering if the portions were so small because they are lunch portions? Admittedly, the prices are ridiculous, but if the reason they cut the portions is because of lunch I can understand a little better.

I guess since I've never been there I can't be dissapointed in how it used to be! The food does look beautiful, but $8 for 2 eggrolls? I'm wondering how they go about making the whole wheat tofu they speak of on the menu....since tofu is made from soy. :confused3 Odd! Maybe it's actually seitan...I may have to go just to find out...
