I'd like to say "hello" to everyone. I'm a first time poster long time lurker. My family and I bought a dvc resale in October 2013 and we are currently on our vacation right now. We bought 210 points at ssr and were not expecting any points until 2014 December but when I called for online access boom!!! 196 surprise points. So we booked a 1 bedroom savannah view at animal kingdom kidani from 2/8-2/14. It was amazing. My 2 year old daughter loved the animals and it made her angry when we had to have breakfast with the princesses in Norway rather then her having her juice, my wife and I with our coffees and enjoying a muffin on the balcony watching the zebras or giraffes.
My report is as follows: the room was amazing, the view spectacular, service was off the charts. The issues came down to our room being in the last building of kidani so it was a quarter mile walk from the lobby to our room. (on the plus side it helped to work off some of those buffets). The gym was nice but it was small and they were missing a set of 15lb dumbbells. I also wished the lights in the bedroom were a little brighter, I know there doing for the African safari feel but my eyes began to feel strained trying to read at night.
On 2/14 we went to Epcot and had bell services take our luggage and groceries to transfer to ssr. That worked out beautifully, we spent the day in the park and then took the bus to ssr. Finding the carriage house was a bit tricky but after asking a couple of cast members we got escorted there. Check in was less then desirable. We felt rather pushed through by the attendant especially being our first time and trying to find our room. My wife attempted to asks them about a replacement tiara we received for my daughter at animal kingdom by the front desk, she lost it in the park when she had someone stop in front of my daughters sleeping stroller and my wife stopped but almost went but over tea kettle to avoid the stroller crashing. The front desk people seemed troubled and rude over it. So we spoke with the concierge desk. The woman was very helpful, contacted animal kingdom and a runner brought one over the next day for my daughter, they even refused a tip. This is the service I love about Disney that they will go out of the way to make a child happy. We are taking the next three days to relax at and unwind at ssr. The resort is a lot different from animal kingdom, we love the play yard, and the restaurants/lobby is a lot closer. The gym here is unbelievable. The room is a little smaller and it was nice having the dual bathrooms in akv. But it is relaxing here, looking forward to an exciting day tomorrow at downtown Disney with friends and than heading home on Monday.
I was surprised when we were at the park of Friday there was a series lack of photopass people. Me ended up seeing Goffey, Winnie the pooh and Mr. smee and no photopass people there for pictures. The same occurred when we entered Epcot. Ps there was a 4 hr wait (at 1000am )to see queen Elsa... crazy.
We are already looking forward to our next trip with dvc. Well gotta go my daughters up and pounding down a Mickey ice cream.
