New member with developer point question

Hi All! We just recently signed our contract for AKV and FedExed it away. :woohoo: Now, DVC probably won't get the signed contract until Monday, but we're anxious to have a chance to use our membership down at Disneyland this coming Thanksgiving. Here's where we have a little problem and am hoping someone might be able to help or shed some light.

Part of the incentives when we signed up were both a gift card (which we applied to down payment) and developer points that we could use right away (and we were told Disneyland was one of the places we could use them.) When we called MS about making our first booking, we were told that the gift card was listed in our records, but nothing about develper points AND we wouldn't have points available until our use year began in December. There was no record of develper points that she could find.

Our guide replied to us with a quick email that the points would appear there when we made the first booking, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Has anyone had something like this happen? Thanks in advance!:)
 
Did you have paperwork about the Developer points? That should have been in your package.
 
I just checked through all the copies of contract stuff that we made before sending everything off. There is one page in there that talks about developer points and the restrictions. I'm guessing we should just give it a few days for the paperwork to get there and properly filed and closed. In the meantime, has anyone else dealt with something like this or have additional thoughts??
 
Did your paperwork that mentioned the DP's specifically refer to the number your were receiving? I think there was another section that spoke about it generically, but there should have been a one or two page seperate document that covered what you received. I hadn't realized that but decided to call and ask and then they sent it out.

Although we didn't initially receive the paperwork required MS was able to see our Dev. Pts immediately.....after I asked them to double check after first saying we didn't have any.
 

Also, if you have any question you should just go ahead and call Quality Assurance. They were very helpful and found/corrected things immediately for us. If QA see's it then you'll be able to give MS more information in figuring out why they don't see the points.
 
We haven't sent in our contract yet (we changed our mind and went for 175 instead of 160 and are waiting for the new contract) and we have already booked SSR using our developer points. The woman at member services had no trouble seeing that we had developer points to use.

Thanks Kathy :flower3: - I think we may be giving Quality Assurance a call today. Hadn't thought about that. We're brand new to DVC all together and are still trying to figure out who's who and what's what.

I was trying to figure out how long we needed to wait to book with our developer points since we were trying to get a weekend in Dec (which we did get :) ). I talked to our guide and he gave me our member number b/c we hadn't recieved anything in the mail yet and transferred me over to MS to get the booking done. When we got our contract (the first one for only 160) there definitely was detailed info on us getting developer points and where they could be used - I'm not sure whether it was one of the pages we had to sign or not since we have to wait for the new contract to arrive.
 
Thanks again Kathy and Stephanie! We finally got some reservations booked. The MS guy we talked to this time also couldn't find those developer points and had to make a few phone calls, but eventually found them. Gosh, makes me wonder where they were hiding! Anyway, it's all sorted out now! :goodvibes
