Hi...

Just wondering if there is anyplace online to get information about the DDP. We are new DVC members :goodvibes ~ and I just booked our very first trip as members.

I didn't add the DDP because I know nothing about it and how it works. I am a cast member (non-Fla) so I've never been able to do the DDP...however, I was told by the membership services that as a DVC member we can do the dining plan even as a cast member.

So before I decide to do it, I want to know what it involves...is it worth adding, the cost, etc.

We are staying for 8 nights in a studio... On previous trips we would get groceries delivered and eat breakfast in the room and then lunch/dinner at the parks/restaurants. And we would likely still get some groceries, but curious as to whether cost of the dining plan is a good investment for us.

Any help...information...direction here is appreciated.

Can't wait for our first stay as DVC members!

Google Disney Dining Plan and you can read the PDFs on each plan. You pay for the plan when added to your reservation and everyone on the reservation must be on the plan. The price keeps going up and the food stays the same or in some cases has been lowered in quality.

As to whether any of the dining plans will be of value for you depends entirely upon your families dining habits, and the make up of your traveling party.

We have never used it, because we generally prefer appetizer and salads over desserts. And we don't always order a beverage, often drinking ice water.
Many people find the dining plans convenient, enjoy the pre-payment aspect, and it matches their dining habits.

Cost is dependent on what plan you choose: quick service vs. basic vs. deluxe. (DVC is exempt from seasonal pricing)

Here is some basic info, also here.

This is the page on the Disney website with the plan brochures.

It really depends on your dining preferences and touring strategy. We like that our dining is "taken care of", but we also miss having an app on the basic plan.

We also get a grocery delivery, even with the dining plan for water, milk, and Pepsi.

There is information on the DVC (MS) website too including the cost for members. http://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/member/memberDetail?id=MemberDisneyDiningPlanLandingPage

You'll need to login to see it though.

If you have an AP, you might want to consider the Tables in Wonderland card instead. It's a 20% discount including alcoholic drinks at many of the TS restaurants at WDW. http://allears.net/din/dde.htm

However, if you have children and do character meals you might find the DDP would help your family save money because cost of a children's DDP (9 and under) could save you money.

What I have done in the past is figure approximately what we would spend on each meal and how much the dining plan costs instead. Also as a DVC member you can segment your reservation and add the DDP for only part of your stay. E.g. you'll be there for 7 nights but only want the DDP for the middle three nights. So MS segments your reservation into three sections, 2 nights, 3 nights and 2 nights. And you purchase only three nights of DDP instead of seven like regular guests have to get.
