Anyone else get these? I am completely and totally obsessed with WDW and was initially thrilled with our new contract at BWV. Now I am scared that for some odd reason 20 years from now I won't want to go to WDW. Is that crazy? I keep reading that it's not a good deal to use your points at the other places DVC has available. Has anyone used their points for trip to other places? I can't believe that I wouldn't want to go to WDW but now our kids are young 11, 6, 6 and 3.5. They also like to go to Universal for a day or two on our trips. Does anyone do this. I guess I am nervous because now I am thinking that I didn't look into other timeshare options off-site but to me if we're going to Orlando we're going to WDW first and foremost and a brief stop to Universal, occasional visit to Seaworld and perhaps in a few years I would like to visit Bush Gardens(never been there). These trips are all 1-2 days and we always spend atleast 6 days at WDW. Is this like the wedding day jitters? I just made this "commitment" and now I have cold feet? I never imagined I would feel like this-still thrilled with a little fear inside. We have been talking about doing this for 5 years and now that it's down I am apprehensive?!!!

Anyone else ever go thru this? Tell me I am not totally crazy!

Don't worry !!

We bought into BWV five years ago and to this day still think it's the best decision we ever made. We also looked at quite a few other timeshare options but nothing matched the flexibility of DVC.

When we visit from England we always have a hire car and usually spend 10 days at WDW, a couple of days at Universal, Sea World, Daytona etc.

We do have one regret though. We should have bought more points !!

We are in the process of buying DVC and also have young children and DH and I are 40. The way I look at it, for the next few years we'll go mostly for Magic Kingdom and MGM and as the kids get older then they'll have more interest in AK and Epcot. And when the are teenagers they'll be able to venture out around the parks on their own and I'll feel like they are in a safe environment. Then I hope we can use DVC as a vacation place to all meet up together on breaks when they are in college, etc. And, eventually I hope to be going with grandchildren. As I see it, WDW offers so much for all ages (as does the surrounding Orlando area) that we can plan on family vacations at Disney for a long, long, long time.

If you tire of Disney in twenty years you will have had twenty years of great vacations. You can let the kids take over the contracts if you don't want them. I doubt Disney will be buying back 2042 contracts at that point so you could probably make a gift of them.

But two deacdes is a long time from now. Probably best to just enjoy the family and DVC and not worry about it.

Once we visited HH, we knew we were set. If we don't feel like going to the parks, HH is exactly the kind of place that we love to be! We are trying VB next month and I have a feeling we will love it too.

NOW, we have used our points for a 3 night Disney Cruise, three nights at Disneyland in California and for 1 night at AKL. I know it isn't the best use of points, but the points are paid for and we need to use them, and this is what we wanted to do.

I will say that, for the reasons you stated, we did decide to only buy 150 points. I don't think we will have any trouble using 150 points every year.

I don't know if we will always want to go to WDW, but we will use our points in some way each year, and already in the 3 years we have been members we have had some great vacation experiences!

Don't worry! Unless you bought an inordinate amount of points that you won't be able to use up (trying to think how much that could possibly be, though, what could be enough?), you'll think it's one of the best decisions you've ever made.

We bought 150 points 8 years ago, did a small add-on last year at BCV (56 points). We wring out every drop of use from our points, and always wish we had more. We chafe now at spending money on hotel rooms (those taxes really add up!) And especially with four children, you need some space! You'll love the two bedrooms.

And just thing: When it's paid off, you just have the dues. We stay 10-12 nights a year for about $700. I had to pay that for about 3 nights at a run-down Hyatt in Long Island.

If you go for 20 years, you'll be in good shape regardless. I am very cheap and well versed in timeshares in general. While DVC is very expensive, it's great for those that use it for DVC as long as they don't do much for just weekends.

We just added on 150 OKW points and I've also been just a bit nervous about it. I know from experience that I always feel that way whenever we commit to loans or spending a lot of money whether it's a new car, home renovations, DVC etc.
Don't worry. Before you know it, you will have kids AND grandkids that all want to go to Disney. That's why we just bought more points!

We had the same feeling but it went away pretty soon after that second trip.

Once we learned how DVC truly works, we have trips planned for the next 3 years. We love it!!

You sound like my sister who is thinking the samething . I just got Bw today and i am trying to get her in ,but she tells me the samething your thinking. The way i look at it , is I am going to spend some great vacations the next 20 yrs and when I get sick or just want to spend a day in Wdw, I can still stay on property cheap ,and visit the other places. We are coming down next april and are doing the same. The first 3 days in universal ,then the next 8 at wdw parks. Infact I just bought my tickets tonight for universal who are having a great deal, buy for 2 days, get 5 for $94 bucks. Cant beat that !

There is nothing stopping you from selling your DVC membership if you get tired of going to WDW... I wouldn't worry if I was you.

O-I feel better already! I can't believe I felt this way over something I have wanted for so long! I guess I remeber feeling a bit like this when we bought our new house. I can't wait to use those points! I am sure that will help! Thanks for the support!

I was a little nervous after we sent those papers back, but I'm glad we did it!

I think any large purchase is like that.
