New Member Banking Info!!!

I just got it in writing from MS (email) because I found it hard to believe but as a new member at SSR with an August UY I have until July 31st to bank 100% of 2005's points. I knew we received a grace period but never imagined it would be that long. Has this been the experience of others who bought in during F&F?

This is good to know! I am going to purchase soon and I was wondering about my 05 points. For some reason I thought that they couldn't be banked. My use year will be Sept.

That's what they told me, too. I was worried about banking because we couldn't do anything with our points (except make reservations for the current year) until our credit was approved.

Now that it's approved, it turns out our August trip is going to be in July, so I ended up using all of this years points anyway!!

However, our guide, MS, and credit person all said that we would have through July to bank for our first year. They realize it takes awhile for people to figure out their plans and get the hang of the system.

Oh, those DVC people are so thoughtful! I just banked all my 2005 points today and made a couple of reservations as well, so it's not even relevant to me personally, but it is just SO nice for the new members who need a little more time to decide what to do with those 2005 points!

I just have to say something about my first call to Member Services - it was such a pleasant experience, dealing with MS. The CM, upon hearing that I would be traveling with a 3 year old immediately offered to request bedrails for us! Okay, it's not a big thing, but I just thought it was so nice!

Back OT - Are you going to savor your extra long banking grace period?

When we bought in Dec with a August use year I was told we had to bank the points by Jan. 31 which we did.

I was not told that. When i signed up I was told if I was not going to use them this year that I had to bank them by jan 31. I wish someone told me this so I had some time to think about what i wanted to do this year.
