NEW March 3-10, 2012 - Western Caribbean with the Magic!

FYI- to the fellow newbies to Disney Cruise Line like me. I have been working on magnets for my door and the guy Marty that made all of the awesome Jordak designs we have seen on the boards and photobucket made me some cool images. I emailed him after looking at photobucket and being unable to figure out how to do it myself and he made them for me and emailed the images back! He was so kind and helpful and now I feel so much more excited with my decorating!! His email address is mkbarg at charter dot net. Just thought I would share:cool1:

I have read about people shipping to the port before the cruise, but have the fear of it not getting there, or getting lost. I will be more comfortable having it with me. I will just have to see how well I can pack and take the largest carryon allowed on the plane.

I have done a few magnets. Some I got from disboards, some I did myself. I am not a designer by any means, but used my scrapbook program to make a few. It has been fun. Hope my door looks nice.

Hi - we're excited to be sailing with you in March! It will be me (42), my DH (38), my DS (4), and DD (3). We sailed this same itinerary in March 2010. We were really stressed with our 2 yr old DS, at the time, just having a major unexpected surgery two weeks prior and our DD only being 1 year old. Disney did not fail to impress! The smallest of things could have set me off and nothing went wrong. The kids loved it and we did as well. :thumbsup2 I hope you all have similar experiences with this cruise. We're definitely signing up for the FE! We, especially the kids, love the little trinkets and gifts.

I'm looking forward to catching up on the previous posts. We still need to book the flight and hotel the night prior in Orlando.

Hi everyone!
We just paid our final balance, so I guess we are going on this cruise! It will be me, dh, and our kids, ds(12) and dd (8). Count us in on the FE....so glad I finally learned what that one was about! We will be ordering ours online - thanks for that ebay link!

Love all your ideas on the excursions as well. Lots to think about!

I noticed that these two groups are not on the FE google doc.

I am working on my gifts and want to make sure that no one is left out that wanted to participate. I cannot private message anyone (I'm guessing it sends an email?) until I have completed 10 posts. Does anyone know if they are still going and want to participate in the FE? I know that hotdiggitydogs cabin number is on the roll call page, but I don't have the info for Shoopdeedoo. Any suggestions?

Our current participants on the FE doc are only these ones below- so sign on up- there is still time:yay::

dis name / room #/ names/ages in cabin

keurigirl / 6616 / joel/stephanie (33) Abby (5) Griffin (2)
aberrydisneygirl / 6635 / dave (27) christine (34)
Rob_Misses_Fla / 2574 / Robert(42), Christy(37), Emily(10)
luckycruising / 1043 / Patsy (33), Philippe (29), Alyssia (6)
bledsoedoc / 2564 / Dennis(42) Heidi(turns 43 during the cruise) Timothy (6)
yucaipagal / 6036 / Dave (43), Lori (35), Gabriella (5), Johnny (3)

If anyone wants to post their info and isn't sure how to put it on the doc, let me know and I would be happy to place it on there for you.

I am getting so excited! My husband is even getting into the FE ideas with me.

Shipping a box to the ship is done all the time on this board and is very easy. The information is in the giant FAQ's thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2068966

But I'm posting it here for ease of access:

Boxes Sent the Ship Ahead of Cruise - PLEASE follow these instructions carefully!!!!!! UPDATED AS OF 2/25/2009
• ONE box per stateroom, no exceptions.
• The package must have the guest full name, ship, sailing date, stateroom number or GTY if you have not been assigned a stateroom number.
• The package also must have a packing slip attached to the outside of the box that details the contents of the package. For prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient. Your list may or may not be read but it must have one. Write packing slip on the outside of the envelope.
• NO FOODS/DRINKS OF ANY KIND, LIQUOR OF ANY KIND, FIREARMS, ETC.. Items that cannot be shipped to the Disney Cruise Line Warehouse and delivered to the ship include: food products (any and all food products including baby food/formula), beverages (liquor, water, etc.), chemicals, and luggage. These items will not be accepted at the warehouse and will be returned. This may cause the dogs to hit on your box and that would be a bad thing.
• The required size of the cartons you are shipping down have to be about the size of a record storage box 12 inches on a side and should not weigh more than 20 lbs. (This has been asked personally by Dave Adams who is the owner)

Address your package(s) to:
Disney Cruise Line Warehouse
Guest Name / Stateroom # (GTY, if you don't know what it is when you send the package)
8633 Transport Drive
Orlando, FL 32832
Phone: 407-566-8196

In the bottom left corner of the top of the package put the following information: ATTN: HOUSEKEEPING
*Name
*Sail Date
*Ship
*Stateroom Number
*Packing slip that details contents of the package (for prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient)
• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 7-Night Cruise on the Disney Magic (Saturday).
• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 4-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Sunday).
• Packages must arrive by Wednesday by 3:00pm for the 3-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Thursday).

If your box is hit on by the screening dog or chosen for additional screening they will open the list and the box and look through it. They will close it back up and provided nothing bad is in it then it will be in your room as usual later after boarding. These boxes will be coming on the ship with the crew mail among other things so they may be in the staterooms later then they were before as they are low priority in the scheme of things for Disney.

So I am too new to pm. Our last name is Foley.

Working on fe gifts. Can each of you let me know favorite Disney characters and movies for each guest in your cabin? Thanks!:tink::goofy::dumbo:

My husband Dave's favorite Disney movie is Aladdin and his favorite character is the parrot from the movie.

My (Lori) favorite movie is Beauty and the Beast with the favorite character of Belle.

5 year old daughter. Gabriella- Cinderella or Tinkerbell for movie and characters- they are equally loved.

3 year old son, Johnny- Toy Story with Buzz Lightyear being a big presence in our house.

Mickey is by far my fave::MickeyMo. After all, it did all start with the mouse. Love love love sorcerer Mickey:smickey:, as you can tell by my picture and my ticker! Not sure if I have a fave movie, maybe beauty and the beast since I love all the songs in that movie, and I do like little Chip. DH does not have a fave as I am really the Disney fan, but he does like Toy Story.

Hi Everyone. My family and I will be joining you on this cruise and we can't wait! :yay: It will be the first cruise for everyone except for me. I was on a Celebrity cruise many years ago.

I am new to actually posting on DISboards but I've been browsing around for a while getting ideas on what to expect since this will be our first Disney cruise. I'm still trying to figure out how to create one of those cool ticker you have in your signatures but I'll get one working soon.

I signed up on the Google doc for the FE and the excursions that we are signed up for. Is there anything else that I should be doing?

Welcome new cruisers. Glad you signed up for the FE. We have talked about a cruise meet the day we board but other than that looks like you have done everything for now, just keep up on this thread for new info. I can't wait til March, it is going to be so much fun!!!

Welcome, Jenleon!! So excited you have signed up for the FE:thumbsup2

I have ordered enough stuff for a few days of FE deliveries. I won't deliver daily, but definitely more than one. I am trying to figure out how many days to spread out my goodies:mickeyjum

I am trying to decide between Native Way's- Rays, Reef and Rum Point or Captain Marvin's- Stingray Beach Lunch in the Caymans. Any ideas- they both get great reviews from Trip Advisor. I know several people on here are using Native Way's, but the draw to Captain Marvin's for me is that they have the same tours, but there is no charge for my 3 year old...

Wooohoo!! I'm getting so excited! I just looked again at our role call and the other tabs, it's great that so many of us have the same ages of kids and are doing some of the same things together. It's always great to have kid playmates :)

We've been to Grand Cayman before, we rented out own car and drove out to Rum Point (which is AMAZING and I highly recommend it). I haven't really decided what we're doing this time. I'm thinking we'll stick closer to town maybe and spend time on the beach and in town. I don't know. It was my favorite stop on our last western carribbean cruise (via Princess Cruise Line).

Oh and I added spaces in the FE sheet to put your last name and your favorite disney characters. this will help me immensely!!!

Thanks for the new columns. That will help keep things straight. We have had alot of movement these past few days. Quite excited and finding it hard to keep this all a secret from our son...we have disguised this trip as a business meeting for myself. Can't wait to see his eyes!:dumbo::tinker::tigger:

Hi Everyone,
Welcome new cruisers! I knew activity here was going to take off after the holidays! :) I can't believe we are only 2 months away. I love the FB page. I sent a request to become a member.

I just looked at the excursions tab and I'm psyched to see 3 other families going to Nachi Cocum with us. I didn't even realize until last week that there was an Excursion tab on the spreadsheet.

I'm going to pass on the FE because we don't know our cabin number yet and from what I've read about the type of reservation we have I may not get it until we check in at the port.

I have been totally buried with fiscal year end at work but I am so happy to be climbing out of the hole and have this cruise to look forward to.

It's been 10 years since we've been on the Magic but I'll take a look at the ship map and see if I can figure out a good place for us all to meet on embarkation day.

So wierd that we have to accept adds to the facebook group! I figured since it was an open group anyone could join.

You can always do the FE and just put your room number into the FE once e you find it out. There is a chance that we will be doing an upgrade so our room number could change. I love verandah's on past cruises but my 5 year old is a climber. Not sure if I would ever be able to sleep....

Or bring your room # with you to the group meet on our first day. This being our first cruise I did not want to pass on the FE. It sounded so much fun. However I do think it is funny that me and my DH are the only ones doing the FE without kids.

I posted a question on the general DCL forum and asked where people on the Magic have held their DIS meets and immediately 4 people answered back and all said the Promenade lounge was the best spot. They said it's quiet, with plenty of seating, and you can have a drink if you choose.

So how does 3:00 PM on Saturday in the Promenade lounge sound for everyone?
