New magic bands box is a big disappointment!

Just another umpteenth reason people will stop going to Disney. They sent my magicbands in a cheap and plain box?? How dare they...I was factoring in the cost and quality of the packages in my total trip cost. Was even going to display the nicer box on my mantle. Even the DVC envelopes are cheap too! LOL.... :duck:

The argument happens EVERYTIME Disney does something that cheapens the experience. Thats why they do it in the first place because people accept it and don't have a problem with it.

Yes, there is something magical about getting a nice box with the magic bands in them, because it sets up the theming and gets you even more in the mood. This cheap crap just takes away from a nice experience that was had in the past and makes it basic with " oh look, a plain box with some bands in it "

Say what you want, but this is happening with everything Disney lately, and I for one am not into it and I'll voice my concerns about it. Will it work? Nope, not with just me. If more and more people actually started speaking up, " maybe " they would listen.

Its just another thing that Disney use to do better until they cheapened the experience

On the other hand, at least when they send me something in an envelope, they priority UPS ship

Does it make a difference if its an old thread? Would a new one make it any different? Its a discussion, and since I read this one, I replied to it to voice what I think of the subject.

Eh, always thought the old box was too big, but figured maybe they needed to send 10 bands sometimes.
Do dislike excessive packaging that I'm just going to throw away, unless needed for fragile items.

So what’s the box look like? Canadians don’t get them sent to us, we pick up at the front desk. Our very first magic band trip we got the Incredibles box, love using it to store our bands. The next trip and each one after the bands just come on a cardboard sleeve, no box.

The inside of the box is nice, but the outside is generic looking. We still have our Incredibles box & magicbands from 2015. It’s a nice box for storage and for packing. I can understand why people don’t like the new box. I was disappointed when I saw it. My daughter ripped up her box, so it’s no good now. Even though I was more careful opening my box, it can’t be put back together, so it won’t be coming with us on our trip the way the Incredibles box did.

By the way, October 2017 is only 9 months ago. It’s not as if this thread was resurrected from years ago.

I actually like the new boxes a lot... it's more of a surprise to have that be the inside of a plain white exterior! But to each his own I guess.

Perhaps they were worried about boxes getting stolen from doorstops? That happens a lot in the city where I live, and people might think a disney box has a dvd or disney merchandise in it. Or maybe their cheap, whatevs. I thought the magic bands were displayed nicely inside though.

The previous Incredibles boxes were inside of a more generic box. There was nothing that screamed Disney on the outside.

And then you ended up with TWO boxes to do something with. Going with what they’ve changed to is far more responsible of them.

The boxes are exactly the same for people who get them mailed and who get them at their hotel. We saw a rack full of the different sized boxes at Pop and someone was looking through them for a guest’s who was checking in when we were in the lobby.

Not necessarily. Our last couple trips we only got the bands on a cardboard tube. No box. And I remember this distinctly because on one of the trips we had a package, and the luggage tags and discount vouchers were nowhere to be found. The CM tried to convince me only Americans got those, and thus they only came in the mailed boxes. Surprisingly they showed up in our room the next day. No box, though, just the tags and vouchers.

Huh that’s interesting. Pop had two tall racks filled with the boxes of bands when we were there. Probably more than 100 boxes of them. Personally I would prefer smaller packaging. I don’t like having to break down boxes for recycling but I really don’t care how they come so long as I get them. We never have a package so we don’t get the luggage tags :(

Yeah. I would go "cool" and then throw the box aside or right into the garbage. I don't feel a different box cheapens my trip at all. I swear some people look to be offended or upset.

Exactly! And if this reaction is over a box, it makes me wonder what the reaction would be when something “major” happens, like their favorite ride has to be closed for refurbishment during their trip or something.

Pretty sure it’s just us Canadians who get them on a tube, no box. Maybe because they are never mailed to us, whereas magic bands in the USA are mailed to the person or picked up at the resort.

They should send them in flat packaging. This is such a waste of materials to use all that paper. It's high time we start caring about the environment.
