Well the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 that I ordered from Buydig last week arrived yesterday as I was leaving to visit my Grandmother, took it with me and first shot was of her very shy cat.

One of my concerns based on some of the reviews I had read was that it was too soft at full zoom, so that is what I wanted to get an indicator of.

No Post processing other than conversion from raw(using Adobe default settings;auto).
FULL ZOOM
# Shutter: 1/125
# Aperture: f/5.6
# ISO: 400

I am a little bit releived that it was not too soft.
I had been busy all week but I am pretty much caught up with work so I may get a chance to test it more at Disneyland on Thursday, but I ordered a CPL so I may wait for it to arrive and go next week.

Looks pretty sharp to me. Nice purchase! Looking forward to more pics. I may go the f/2.8 wide zoom route next year. We'll see how things go.

Thanks, I really want to test its sharpness WIDE OPEN at all focal lengths. I will post samples as soon as I have them done(at Disneyland).

It was really hard to decide between this and the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8, I chose this just because of the shooting i tend to do. It was a tough choice.

I'd say it is the cat's meow;) !! If I can get my S3 to show a more shallow depth of field like that I will be happy:cool1: . Actually, I have been practicing with some really stupid indoor shots to see how shallow I can get and they are not all that bad:thumbsup2 . At least for a little P & S.

How close are you to DL? I have been down there 3 times in the last 2 months and will be down there again at some point next month, and planning to go down to meet up with Groucho possibly in Sept.

From my front door to the parking lot at DL, it is about 20-30 minutes(depending on traffic.

And it is kinda funny you ask, I was just up in your part of the state this past weekend. My wife loves those outlets.

lol.. I was down there last weekend at DL

I'll let you know the next time I am there, perhaps we could meet.

I recently bought the same lens and am pretty happy with it... though I think I might prefer it a little wider, like a 16-55mm. It is notably heavier than my kit lens (unsurprisingly, with the larger glass) but is the lens that I keep on the camera most of the time now.

From the research I'd done earlier, the Tamron seemed best at image quality, the Tokina had the best build quality, and the Sigma was somewhere inbetween.

I had the same concerns, but I primarily like to shoot tighter than usual and my next purchase will likely be in the 10-20mm range anyways. Currently looking at a Sigma and a Canon EF-S.

But for now this will be my walk around lens, glad you liked yours too.
