New lanyards each time or trade from the old ones?

We JUST started our DS5 and DS7 on trading this past year and they each have their own lanyard with @15 pins each on them. We only go to WDW every 2-3 years. For our next trip in 2011, I already have brand new lanyards and 15 new pins for each of them to trade. I would like to continue to get them a new lanyard and new pins each time we go, thus allowing them to keep their previous lanyards intact and see the evolution of their pin trading. I thought the lanyards would be nice keepsakes that they could appreciate years later. Does anyone else start from scratch like this each time, or do you pick up where you left off trading from last time, on the same lanyard?

Nope, we use the same lanyards over and over again. We get new pins to trade but we use the same lanyards.

We buy new lanyards however we sometimes bring a few of the pins we collected from our last trip to trade.
