All Ears just updated the dinner menu for Kona Cafe. I know there's been a lot of controversy over it the past few days, but after reading it, I for one, am excited about the new items.

http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_kcd.htm

It doesn't look like they dumbed it down, and the new shirmp appetizer sounds wonderful, as does the soup. (I know the soup was already on the menu, but I'll have a hard time deciding between the two next month.)

The entrees look the same, except that the filet is gone, but the prime rib and strip steak are both still there.

The desserts pretty much look the same as well, except instead of the chocolate-macadamia tart, there is a coconut-kiwi tart. (It says kiki, but I think it's meant to say kiwi.)

I saw the menu too, and was just as pleased as you are.

But I did not catch the kiki = kiwi. I thought to my self, "Hmm.. kiki. Ki. Ki. Haha!"

Thanks for posting I was on the site earlier today and it was the old menu. I have one of those PICKY kids that is a TRUE carnivore, so I am hoping he'll just choose one of those other meats. Anyone ever try the prime rib? Is it VERY fatty? I know it is known to have the fat but sometimes it is just plain GROSS!

Any input appreciated!

I've heard the prime rib is good, but I've never tried it myself. I'd probably pick the strip steak myself between the two though, but that's personal choice. Right now I'm planning on getting the tuna oscar, which is still on the menu.

The Prime Rib is very yummy!!! My DH gets every time and it has always been done perfectly!!!

Looks like the put the teriyaki steak on the menu twice, an accident? I will be at the Poly a week from tomorrow so I will take a pic of the current menu...make sure it is accurate

Thank you so much Nicki! Edit: This is off topic, but I was wondering if you can also take a pic of Narcoossee's and Chefs de France menu? .... pwetty please?

It's Super Nicki, I am trusting that you will do one of your wonderful reviews maybe you can start a new menu thread, using all of the restaurants that you will visit on your next trip, just a thought.:)

Thanks for posting this DisneyFav ... I was just looking at All Ears during lunch today at work and the new Kona menu hadn't shown up yet. I think it sounds pretty tasty ... there's plenty on there that we'll be happy to order in October. YUM!!! :goodvibes

I had checked earlier this morning too, but on a hunch, checked it again. I think I may like this menu even better then the previous one.

MickeyNickey mentioned about it looking like teriyaki beef being there twice but my DH said a New York Strip is not a Sirloin Strip and he thinks a typo especially with the word "sirloin" after the Teriyaki-style New York Strip. I hope a typo - I like NY Strip and will be an ok replacement for the filet (almost ...) So in other words may be two different items.

It will be great if you find out MickeyNickey -- I'm trying not to miss my filet before I even get there! :)

Another thing that I noticed about the new menu: even though the filet was replaced by a New York Strip, the price was adjusted down as well.

The filet was $28.99. The new choice of meat is still the most expensive thing on the menu, but now at $24.99.

This is a relief, as I was hoping that whatever placed the filet was not the same price. It would have been a shame if the new item would make you pay the same for something "less."

It appears that they duplicated the Beef Teriyaki description for both steaks. I'm sure they'll be different. I'll be curious to see the actual description for the New York Strip. We have KC booked for our Oct. trip. My DH or DS may be interested in the NYS. We're adventurous eaters though, so we're fine with not knowing the menu ahead of time.

I think the two steaks are probably a typo, and the only one that's really there is the NY strip, since that's the new item. I just doesn't make sense to me that Kona would have two similar cuts of beef, with the exact same sides.

So am I. I do like having some idea of what I'm going to order, so then it takes me less time to make a decision of what to order, (too much just sounds so good,) but if I decide on something, like the tuna oscar for example, and it's taken off the menu between now and in a month, it's no big deal.

OH, so glad to hear this. Whenever I see prime rib as the meat I think of all the wedding meals and that is NOT very appetizing. Normally I would not even look at a menu but my DS is one of those that eats steak, chicken and potatoes and little else. Since he's the "only one" we just indulge him rather than trying to push other foods, it does NOT work for us at all and is not worth the aggravation, especially on vacation.

Some of the other items look yummy as well. We ate at ohana last year, it was actually a great (though SALTY) meal and saw Kona, said we'd give it a try, glad we got it for upcoming visit.

Thanks for the info everyone! Enjoy your weekend!
