New Kona Menu

I know the menu hasn't changed all that much, but for some reason the menu looks even better to me now than when I originally decided on Kona for dinner. (And it's not because I'm hungry, I just ate lunch!)

For those who are dining at Kona in the next few weeks (my trip isn't until end of September), I'd love to hear whether you tried the new Shrimp Roll and what you thought. Thanks!

Appetizer
Braised Pork Belly Salad - Pork belly braised in Dashi served on a bed of Bibb lettuce and pomegranate vinaigrette. - $8.99
That hadn't been on the menu very long, it must not have been very popular.

That's what I'll probably get, but I doubt I'll have my review written by the time you go.

Looks good to me! I think I'll have the shrimp and scallops, again, this time. I'm not that disappointed about the removal of filets from alot of WDW restaurants as the last 2 years I got a little tired of too much beef. Since the only steak I eat is filet, it just means I'll be having more seafood. Which I love!

So basically, these are the changes:

Removed
Appetizer
Braised Pork Belly Salad - Pork belly braised in Dashi served on a bed of Bibb lettuce and pomegranate vinaigrette. - $8.99
Entree
Filet Mignon - Served with mashed Yukon Gold potatoes and asparagus. - $28.99
Dessert
Chocolate Macadamia Nut Tart. (I didn't care for it anyway)

ADDED

Appetizer
Shrimp Roll - Tempura shrimp, mango, and sushi rice served with passion fruit-orange-guava Sauce $12.99
Entree
Teriyaki-style New York Strip - sirloin strip grilled with pineapple teriyaki glaze served with mashed Yukon gold potatoes and stir-fried broccolini $24.99
This may be a duplicate? Should be confirmed soon.
Dessert
Coconut Cream Kiki (Kiwi?)Tart - $5.49

They also removed the Kona Chowder that I had last summer and replaced it with the Shrimp & Curry Soup.:sad2: Very bummed cause I loved that soup. It was like a shrimp and crab chowder...yum.

That was switched awhile back, I think last Oct.

The Terryaki steak was duplicated..there is only one. I have a pic of the menu I will upload tonight.

Thanks for posting this info!
I had planned on getting the Teriyaki steak, so am glad that's still there.

Sorry to see the seafood chowder gone now. That was the only thing left that I ate there. Taking that off my list now.

OK, I should know this as many times as we've stayed at the Polynesian and eaten at Kona Cafe but .....

..... what time do they start serving lunch?

All Ears just updated the dinner menu for Kona Cafe. I know there's been a lot of controversy over it the past few days, but after reading it, I for one, am excited about the new items.

YIKES!! :scared1: The filet was the only reason we were going to Kona. I am saddened at this development. :sad2:

If Disney expects vacationers to make ADRs 180 days in advance -- Disney should should be required to make the same menus available that vacationers based their decisions on in making those ADRs.

Another reason to stay off property. So sad.

I disagree, and I would never make ADRs based on one menu item. The menus could never be published that early in advance, food costs change, as do seasonal items.

There is no filet. There is the Terryaki style New York Strip...and it's GOOD!

So, the sirloin has been replaced with the NYS in the Beef Terriyaki? Sorry for so many questions. I'm just trying to clear up the confusion in the incorrect menu posted. :goodvibes
