Just a heads up, it is similar to the one at the GF, but this one goes into Epcot itself.
DVC members get 10% off, too.

Here's a link -

Another heads up, they are serving PB&J like the one at the GF. I called this morning and spoke with the rec department at Y&BC. Looks like we'll be passing on this one, too. Bummer, but sounds like fun!

Are the crusies only offered on Wednesdays? What is the max age?

Any other links with details?

Thanks.

DD loved the GF cruise when she was 7. She turns 11 this spring :hourglass and I don't feel right booking her for this. She still loves this sort of thing. Do you think if they still had any openings when we check into BCV this summer, they might let a tiny 11 year old go?

I was able to book my boys for June 8th! We are staying at BCV's and weren't going to do the PC this year, because it would take alot of travel time to GF and then we wait there for the boys to get back.

Now we can drop them off at the marina and RELAX at SAB until they get back!
2 hours no kids and a DVC Discount!! :cool1: :rotfl:

My CM did make it a point to tell me Peanut butter and Jelly would be served and asked if that was alright.

LIFERBABE, that is great! Please post back how they like it. I really wish they wouldn't serve PB&J too, my oldest was disappointed about the one at the GF. I have to go with my gut, though. Doesn't feel safe. They are doing the Neverland Club one night and it is now peanut free so she is happy about that. pirate:

I assume you son/daughter has a severe(life threatening) allergy to peanuts?

I think they could offer an ice cream cruise once/twice a week for parents with kids that have severe food allergies. This would be a nice alternative, while at the same time wouldn't eliminate many kids favorite foods for everyone else.

Do they break down the kids into different age groups once on the boat. My daughter will be 4 in January when we are there, but being with kids that are 8-10 just wouldn't be that much fun - for the older kids as my daughter would follow them around. :)

Ken, I just posted this on the other thread going about the new pirate cruise. I'm too lazy to retype it! :) Seem I'm not the only one having to take a pass...

"I think it is the difference in everyone's comfort level. When I called about the GF pirate cruise they told me the boat would be eating PB&J, they'd serve my daughter and her sister another meal and would sit them up front. She (who just turned 7) or her sister (who just turned 4) would have to administer the Epi if she needed it. Obviously that is a joke. I totally understand them not wanting to be responsible for the Epi, don't get me wrong. BUT, if I was a CM on that boat I'd personally be freaked. Despite my daughter being disappointed, I had to pass. MY comfort level being I don't feel safe with her being out on a boat with twenty other kids eating PB&J around her and not having an Epi available if needed. She wanted to do something alone with her sister so I have them booked at the Neverland Club one night, which has now gone peanut free.

Most of the kids' programs at WDW are now peanut free. We did the tea party with Alice before and they were great! I understand PB&J being easy to transport on a boat, they could try using soy butter instead. I let my daughter eat this ONLY at home cause it looks and tastes so similar to PB. I can bet none of those kids would know the difference."

You aren't going to believe this Shan (and I'm not sure I do, she's a little of a hypochordriac) but my soon to be ex sister in law claims a severe allergy to soy! Probably not as prevelent as peanuts, but I don't think there is any food that is completely allergin free for everyone.

That is very true crisi. I know some kids that are also allergic to soy. That is an even tougher allergy cause soy is in EVERYTHING! I'm not sure if a soy allergy is as problematic as peanuts as far as contact exposure to it, though. I could be totally wrong on that. Can it be anaphylactic as well without ingestion? Gives me something to look into...

Here's an excerpt from the new DVC Vacation Magic about the "Albatross Treasure Cruise":

"During the Alatross Treasure Cruise, a new children's activity at Disney's Y&BC Resorts, kids travel the waters of Crescent Lake and the Epcot World Showcase Lagoon in search of buried "treasure."

"We're looking for my ship and my treasure that was stolen from me, " explains Captain Ron, the CM who leads his young crew on the adventure. "We go from one spot to another picking up clues, and eventually we find the ship and the treasure."

Captain Ron tells Vacation Magic that the ATC offers guests ages 4 - 12 an interactive adventure, one that's a bit different than those found in the Theme Parks. "They help us put the map together. They look at the clues - 'Where do we go next?' It's a hands-on activity for the kids."

Featuring 6 different ports of call, the cruise includes stops to the Japan and Germany pavilions in World Showcase; these visits add a level of realism to Captain Ron's tale. "We tell the kids, 'Gee whiz, we're going all over the world looking for this treasure. There's France, there's Morocco, there's all these other countries,' and they get a big kick out of that," he says.

The Alatross Treasure Cruise is currently offered Weds from 9:30 - 11:30 am. Cost of the activity, which includes lunch, is $28.17 per child, plus tax. The cruise sets sail from Bayside Marina, located behind disney's Yacht Club Resort."

Sounds like a great addition !!! Can't wait to book this for my nephew on our October trip - he loves pirates - already has his Peter Pan costume for MNSSHP!! This also looks like a good alternative for those parents who were concerned about their children being "out of sight" while on the GF pirate cruise - you could keep an eye on the boat during this one. :smooth:

You may not get an answer, this being new...but....

In my experience, grown ups really don't know much about pirate cruises. The kids go off...have a great time...and are usually too young to give a really accurate critique of the experience. Pirate cruises tend to be most popular with the 4-7 set - occationally someone comes back with information from a ten year old who can give us an accurate impression of the whole experience.

The Y&BC one is suppose to be smaller (10 or 12 kids? as opposed to 20?), visits Epcot (the GF one visits the MK resorts). But from the description posted, the "plot" is similar for both of them.

I realize this is new but
Has anyone done both>
which seems better??

We haven't done both yet, but my boys have been on the GF PC twice. They have really enjoyed them. I booked the ATC yesterday which was the 90 day window and there were only 2 spots left, so word is definitely spreading fast!

The first time we dropped them off and had breakfast at 1900 PF and the second time I think we rode the monorail while we waited for them. So this one will definitely be better for us. (Parents are not allowed to join their children under any circumstance)

I know Captain Ron will make it a great cruise for the kids. He is AWESOME and filled with Disney Magic! He was our boat Captain for an Illuminations cruise we took last summer (we actually joined another Dis DVC family) and he was great. Now Im really excited!

As far as the food, at GF they normally passed it out on the way back to the dock and most of the kids carried their lunch off the boat along with their bag of trinkets. I know that won't make the most severe cases more comfortable with it, but wanted to pass along.

I'll second that. I was unable to get the Wednesday during our May trip. It was already full. Too bad since it fit perfectly in our plans, we're staying at the Boardwalk and the Epcot setting sounds much nicer than the GF cruise.

I was told they only take 10 children.

I'll probably try calling again periodically in case someone cancels, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. I realize that this just started, but it seems kinda silly to just run it one day per week with only 10 kids. Hopefully demand will be such that they'll add a cruise or two per week between now and May.
