New June - Team Hakuna Matata!

Got out for a solid three miler this morn, glad I had the I-pod plus and did not rely on the 405.

1st 405 use was shaky for me, and I would say it is me and the learning curve. First I turn it on get Sats to acquire go to training and start off running. I went to lock the bezel so as not to touch it by accident and do something goofy. But in doing so I stopped the timer. Noticed this about 1/3 of the way into the run.

I did not get the heart rate monitor model.

The screen on the 405 is kinda small for these old eyes, ok when sitting still or walking, but on the run the small data fields are just toooooo small. This can be fixed by editing the three data fields.

I also am not used to running with a watch on so that will be something I have to get used to. The strap is a little small for me, there is room to spare but not much and my wrists are not that big. In my fat days this puppy would not have fit.

I have not set it up yet to download to the computer. Will do that later.

I am pretty sure I will like it just have to get used to it and how it works and how to use it for me.

Here is the Yellow Rice and Chicken recipe.

Yellow Rice and Chicken addition info on changes I make to the recipie.

1 fryer (we use chicken breasts)

4 ounces lard or ½ pint olive oil (I prefer Olive Oil – yuk yuk yuk yuk)
Pinch of saffron (I use a really big pinch or two)
2 cloves garlic ( usually more I like Garlic)

Basement project looms, wiring and insulation today. Lynn is a happy camper as I ordered the dry wall to be delivered to the basement all 65 sheets, should make the project go faster.

I have noticed that building materials are up about 20%, bummer. A bucket of drywall mud went from $9.00 to $11.00, glad I bought a most of our materials a while back. So we wont fell the full sting.

Train hard, laugh, fell proud of our workouts, you are strong, you are changing your life, living to the fullest, grab life by the horns and enjoy the ride, revel in being in the arena - rather than one who watches the arena, you live and know what it is to have sweat in your eye and the grit of the road on your flesh, God that feels good!!!!!

I better get after it.

Enjoy the day kids.

Thanks for the report on the 405 Scott. I let Erica do the high tech stuff, I wear a watch but that's it. I would exercise nekid if it was legal. I wore a fanny pack during the Goofy so Erica wouldn't have to carry all her supplies and that bothered me. I can wear those thin form fitting fanny packs but not the ones that have more than wallet and a few small items room.

I felt really strong today, I think the weight workout is finally kicking in. I had a fast 30 min walk on the tready to warm up then a 30 min weight workout with no rest between different exercises.

Scott yes buddy, life is to short not to grab all the living you can.

Morning everyone.

Just got home from a 6.25 miler with a friend - walking buddies are so nice :goodvibes It is too warm and humid all ready, but we had a lot of shade on the trail.

Added up my miles for the week ... Geez with walking & biking I have over 68 miles and still hoping to go for a road bike ride tonight before I PM Connie.

Everyone, Have a Great Weekend...Stay Kool and Hydrated!

Good Morning:

It's a good day. Mark and I set out to do 3 miles this morning because we have a lot to do today but he gave me a bit of trouble on the walk saying it was my fault we were "late" and it was starting to get hot so when we were going to turn off at the 3 mile mark, I pushed him forward for the 4. At one point we go around a curve on the road and the cars come around pretty quick so I tried to push him in the back of me as he was wearing black and I had my green wish shirt on so I could be seen easier. He pushed me aside and ran into the street making believe he would rather be hit by a car than continue on the walk. I busted a gut and had trouble getting back my stride. BRAT! That'll teach him to give me some lip!:woohoo:

So I'm back, showered and ready to start the day. It's a beauty here in NH we're lucky to have the sun and so far it's not too hot.

Have a good one all.

Thanks for those recipes, the look great.

Denise it just takes some husbands a long time to learn to shut up and do what they are told.

Margie, WOW, you knocked out some serious miles this week.:worship: Princesses Power:cool1:

I just made an interesting lunch. Since I did weights this morning I wanted extra lean protien, (I will not do supplements, except for a multi vitamin). So I got a big can of Progresso veggie soup and added two can sof drained tuna and a couple of big table spoons of Flax seeds. It made a very tasty soup.

I wish I was off today. I will not be on much if at all tomorrow. I have to go to Louisville for Optician continuing education classes.

Have a super weekend dear friends.

Wow..I had alot of reading to do!!

Dave - Fanny packs are all bad. I use a hydration belt, but when I get up there in miles it sure does become annoying! I'm thinking of getting a handheld...one with pockets for Gu and keys. Anyone have one?

Denise - I love reading about the movie making stuff!! Oh and I wanted to say that my shoes are about the same in mileage. I'm hoping they last through my training for the half marathon in Sept and then I'll buy new ones before I ramp up my miles from Jan. I run on quite a bit on concrete so it tends to wear them out much faster.

Dawn - Free beer is goooood! I usnderstand what you are saying about the customers being your boss. Up untill 2 years ago I worked primarily in customer service and they are the bread and butter. Have you ever read the customer service books by Disney? One of them I read was called Be Our Guest (I think). Anyways..they are genius when it comes to pleasing the masses. It was a good read!

Scott/Lynn - Hope you guys aren't stressing about the 65 sheets of drywall...I know I would be. My DBF has talked about buying an older farm home and fixing it up...very scary for me. I lived in a century home once and let me tell you...fixer uppers are not my thing. BTW - Scott, thanks for the "sweat in the eye...grit of the road"...it's inspiring!!

Margie - Yes, he is a stunt rider. Not professionally, but it is his passion. He's very tall (6' 7") so he can't do everything that a small rider can do, but he's pretty good at wheelies and stoppies. He rides with the Starboyz and Bikestyles...two groups out of our area. Today he is at Stuntfest working as a judge for stunt competitions. I'm meeting up with his after I leave work then we have an afterparty then all day at the track again tomorrow. I'll get my walking in though so that's good!!

Vicky - The WW soda cake is a family fav for us! I tried something new for Father's Day though and it turned out great! I don't measure, but here's the basic idea:

1 Box Carrot Cake mix (Betty Crocker or similar)
water required per box directions
1 sm can of crushed pineapple
1 sm bag of chopped walnuts
1/2 cup shredded carrots
1/2 cup raisins
1 single serving natural apple sauce
3 eggs
1 egg white

Mix the cake mix, water, 3 eggs and applesauce together til smooth. Dump in carrots, raisins, pineapple (to taste) and mix well. Drop the egg white in and mix in 3/4 of the bag of the walnuts. Bake according to th box directions.

Frosting:
4-6 oz FF or light cream cheese
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon cinnimon
1/2 tub sugar free or fat free cool whip
1/4 C Splenda
1/4 C Powdered sugar

Combine all ingredients in med/lrg bowl and blend with mixer until light and fluffy.

After the cake cools, spread the frosting on and sprinkle remaining walnuts on top. Yummmmm.

OK...so I'm at work and I've been on here forever. Shame shame. Anyhow..I'm going to go. Hope you guys have a great rest of the weekend.

Strong legs are good legs.

Hi everybody!!

Did 30 min core workout yesterday and today.

Will be trying out the new Nike+ sportband tomorrow.

Hope ya'll have a great weekend.

Erica

Wiring is being a pain, a line the contractor who built the house said was a telephone line wasn't, no lines in the basement, lots of work but we got it in.

Dry wall is in the basement now we need to get ti up, but alas, more wiring and insulation.

Later kiddies I gotta get back to it.

My thoughts on a fixer up is it is never totally fixed up. Always something and like the basement to us right now it seems to be a mill stone.

How are we supposed to lose weight with all these delicious recipes making us salivate? :confused3

Did a short bike ride. Even in the mid 70's it is much cooler when the sun goes down and the humidity is low. :goodvibes

Connie, I will PM Miles & Times as soon as I finish this post.

Way To Go, Erica! :cool1:

Hope Everyone had a great Day!

Margie! You are amazing! You are the miles Queen!

 Go, Erica!

::yes:: Scott....fixer upper really means "Totally Messed up!"

Free Beer???? Sounds good to me! :rotfl:

Panda, if those are whole Flax seeds be sure to put them in your food processor....they remain whole even after you eat them, otherwise.

The recipes look good.

Dawnie, how was the race?

I'll be back! Thanks for holding down the fort, guys!

Yes sometimes a fixer up is best scraped down.

12 hours of basement work, need to yet get the speaker wire in. Got to go into work today when I get the call, so don't want to get into any project too deep.

Just a short walk so far this morning, waiting for teh Sunday paper.

Keep crunching out those mile and times.

Good Morning Team!

As Scott says, we spent 12 hours in the basement yesterday, doing wiring! It was nice watching 4 young kids hauling 65 sheets of dry wall into the basement. The first kid said it would never make it down the stairs, we had to show him how it was done. I do not think he believed us when we said we hauled the dry wall down for the first 3 rooms!!! He called in 2 more to help - so a total of 4 kids hauling drywall down the stairs 2 pieces at a time. They all got in their workout for the day!!!

We did a short loop this morning early with the dogs, will start on the basement again until Scott has to go to work later today.

Have a great day!

Hi All!!!

Just got done doing a 3 miler. I like the Nike+ sportband. It took me about a half mile to figure out how to get it to work, but then it was right on as for mileage.

Sooo...even though I did 3 miles, I actually have time and pace for only 2.5 miles.

2.5 miles in 38:00 or 15:10 average pace:eek: :yay:

Lynn it is so refreshing to see that 2 of us "older" folk can accomplish what it takes 4 kiddos to do:rotfl2:

Margie you are doing awesome!!

Gotta go and get ready to go out and eat! Be back later

Erica:cloud9:

Connie, you asked how my race was...well let me tell you! It was hard! I have been so busy, that I had only trained on the treadmill. And even when I do run outside, it is on trails. Well this race was all on asphalt, and I could sure tell the difference. And my legs can tell the difference today too!

I started just fine doing my 4 min jogging, 1 min walking like I had planned, but by the time I got about halfway, that changed to 3-2, or 1-1 or whatever I could manage! But I finished, and was not last, and was even able to run the last part down the parade route were people were sitting. ;) My time was 64 minutes, which I thought was pretty good concidering.

Oh, and the beer was really good!:drinking1

Thanks Everyone, I took a much needed Total Rest Day today :goodvibes

Yeah, Erica! :cool1:

Lynn, 4 young kids ... Feels good to know you 'You Did It'! :thumbsup2

Congrats, Dawnie!!!!!!!! ::yes::

Did not walk today. Mark and I are finally putting the living room back together. Bought some blinds - 5 and put those up, bought a lamp, framed and hung 4 disney prints that I bought 4 years ago to put in the living room!

Put my doll cabinet back together but found I have more stuff than I thought and didn't make a map of how it was originally put in. Oh well I'll stuff it in some how. It's really starting to come together.

Back to clean the left over dust around the rest of the house so I'll sign off.

Oh we did find on our comcast cable a high end On demand channel Disney Travel. In NH it's Channel 891, check your local listings, if we can't be there we might as well sit and dream.

Strange start to my week. Up at 4am for a drive to Louisville, 6 hours of sitting on tiny chairs listening to dry lectures on optics and refraction. Then drove home and got my only exercise of the day, push mowing the yard.

Have a great evening y'all.

Good morning!

Wow...Erica you are doing great!!! :thumbsup2

I'm enjoying a rainy morning. I think I'm going to go to the gym for the LR today. I just don't have a good 7 mile route that interests me. At least at the gym I can listen to podcasts and music and just zone out. When I hit the streets it requires active participation to make sure I don't get hit...and I'm not in a mood to deal with it today.

Stuntfest weekend was ok...rain both days at the track made for a not so great turn out. I didn't get to see much...but what I didn't see wasn't that great. The fastest wheelie this year was 118 mph (last year it was 130+). I did get to see some friends and get some sun..so that was nice. Oh and I wore the pedometer too! :cool2:

Anyhow..I'm gonna get to getting. Hope you all are having a great day!!
