New Journeys January WISH 2026

A couple things that are thankfully coming to an end:

Living in a messy house. When I get home one of my highest priorities is to hire a house cleaner. I'll have them start with a deep clean then come very other week. Plus as mentioned, I'm ready for a deep purge and getting things re-organized... so excited about this.

Having trouble walking. Moving smoothly and freely is so important to me and I am pleased to be getting back to it.

A couple things that are thankfully starting:

Managing working in-office better so that I have the energy to get out and do things after work so I can meet my people.

I'm going to be growing flowers from seeds again! I've gotten my sweet pea and snap dragon seeds and the dahlia farm is packing their seeds up to ship soon. I've been looking at indoor seed starting systems. I learned so much doing it before and I'm excited to see what I can accomplish on my little deck.

I am thankful that I can stay home all weekend. DD has the flu and I was with her the day before she got sick. SHe had a migraine that we are now thinking was the flu but since she gets them a lot we didn't think anything of it. I was up with stomach issues all night so I am working from home today. I feel a bit off but not sick. I am hoping that I don't get it. Then we have the huge cold blast and snow storm starting tomorrow and going through Monday. It is a great weekend to just chill and relax.

I looking to get rid of 2025. It was a rough year all a round. So not one specific thing.

I am also thankful I stayed home today. Just in case I don't have the flu it sounds like a few of my team are now heading home because they don't feel good. I feel like as I get older I want to shelter more during the flu/cold/covid months.

I have a few things I am hoping will come to an end by the start of the Chinese new year 🤞
Thankful that I can hunker down during the snow this weekend and I have the flexibility to work at home on Monday if we get as much snow as they are forcasting
Hopeful that DD’s developmental screening next week is the next stage in her progress of being able to better express herself

The was not great. DD has the flu and I have been feeling off but not sick. So just taking it easy. With the storm coming we are not doing much. We are shopping tonight to hold us over until next week. I do have a hair appointment tomorrow but I should be back before the snow starts. But that is it and I can see that getting canceled.

Hallelujah... heading home in a couple hours, and fingers crossed get to stay home. It has been a good week. Issues are always expected with a project this complex, but nothing came up that hasn't been solvable and we've moved thru them quickly.

We are supposed to have sunshine at home tomorrow, yah for that. I have my hair appointment in the afternoon so will get out for a walk before then, I've been moving around quite a bit while here and want to keep that up. And the great purge starts tomorrow. It has been almost a year since I moved in so the timing is just right.

It's so hard to believe it's been a year! I feel like time just moves faster and faster.

what is on tap for you over the weekend?
Hopefully a benefit dinner at the lodge tomorrow night. (So far, our snow isn't supposed to start until Sunday.)

It wasn’t a great week…extended family is complicated. If anyone has some extra prayers or good vibes to send this way I’d appreciate it.

Snow is coming Sunday and school is already canceled for Monday…queue image of Chris Pratt holding off the three raptors. Tomorrow I have to brave the sub zero temps for an event at the karate studio which is in the same plaza as a very large stop and shop…that’ll be super fun

SELF CARE SUNDAY

Ooppps, I did it again and forgot to post for this morning, so let's jump right into Sunday... what are you going to do for yourself today?

I couldn't find my glasses anywhere today... until I pulled the laundry out of the washer and there they were, with one lense popped out. So self-care today is starting with a trip to COSTCO to get them put back together. Goodwill is across the street, so I'll drop some things off.

My sweet pea and snap dragon seeds should go out now, because they love a slow cold start. Which explains a lot about the results I got when I grew them at the house. So when I'm running around tomorrow I need to get some trays etc. and then get my hands dirty which is always a good self-care thing.

I'm going to make stew for the first time in my new little crockpot, wish me luck. Then there is a little football game in the evening, and I'm feeling I'd like to watch it as a community connection type of thing.

So far, all I've done is the tea, but it's early. I will likely read at some point today, and definitely bundle up to shovel later. Skin care is probably in the plan as well.

Starting the week back in the office for the first time in three weeks. It was a nice commute in and it looks like we're going to have another dry clear day... we've been so blessed weather-wise, but the mountains do need snow.

It was a great football game yesterday and we're going back to the Super Bowl for the first time in like 10 years. It was a welcome respite from what is going on in the country.

I slept in the other bedroom for the first time last night and I really like it, so I'm going to keep working on the room, it's going to be a big part of the great purge because that closet is over flowing with stuff.

It was a quiet weekend. I had every intention to get on the treadmill but never did. I did make homemade Loaded Baked Potato soup and homemade dinner rolls on Saturday. Sunday I made loaded twice baked potatoes. I tried my hand at a quick chocolate mousse. I just made chocolate pudding and mixed it with whipped cream. It is not mousse. It is chocolate pudding with whipped cream. Still good but not what I have been craving. If anyone has a recipe send it my way.

We got bitter cold on Saturday and the snow all day yesterday. We are still getting snow just not as much as yesterday. It is just a nice light snow. I just went out and measured our snow and we are at about 12 inches. Everything here was shut down yesterday and all schools and government buildings are closed today. Tomorrow and Wednesday we will have the bitter cold again. With the wind chill, we are looking at -25 and -20 the two days. Our regular high will not be above 20 for at least another week. I am so done with winter already. I am sure schools will be closed the next 2 days as well. I am done with winter and ready for spring.

I hope everyone fared well this weekend if you were in the path of the storm.

The snow was almost up to my knees.

Thursday was the PPT meeting for my violent student. My principal met privately with the special ed director for 30 minutes before the meeting. At that moment, I knew he wouldn't be placed in an appropriate self-contained classroom. After 2.5 hours of the team providing boatloads of data, the director shot it all down and told me to collect 8 more weeks of data. Now I clearly see that the powers that be don't care about his needs, or the safety of everyone else. I guess they are just going to keep putting it off until June.😡

Needless to say, it was a terrible week. I couldn't wait for the weekend and today's snow day so I could put it all out of my mind. We got the most snow since the blizzard of 2013. Nobody can agree on how much we got. Reports vary from 15 to 30 inches lol. All I know is that it's a lot! I'm hoping for another snow day or at the very least, a delay for tomorrow.

The last roll of toilet paper...

This took me back to the Seinfeld episode when that rude woman had denied Elaine toilet paper..."I can't spare a square," then Elaine ran in the bathroom and took ALL of the toilet paper so she knew how Elaine felt.

We have -20 or so wind chill today. It is not getting much better as the day goes on either. We will have this through about midday Thursday. School districts are closed again today and most likely tomorrow. DS's college went to online classes until midday today and DD's is closed until noon. It is another day of hunkering down in the house. We haven't even brushed off the car from the weekend yet. I just looked outside and it is snowing a decent amount too. I am sure hoping the groundhog does not see his shadow. We all need an early spring after this.
