New Jedi Training Sign Up Test Outside the Park

I hate fp+ but why not just make it a fp+ attraction and have people fight it out at 60 days online
Then if people don't show up pick fillers from the crowd like the old days or dl.
My son did Jedi at DW and dl, dl was much more fun and exciting for him juts being picked vs running to the sign up spot

Interesting. Fast Passes involve coming to a queue when your time is up... This may not work because JTA books your kids for a specific number of spots at a specific time. I could see it going more like Pirates League, wherein you do book it from home, there is then no mad dash, but you've had to prepay a nominal amount. Then they've cut out the rush, and made more money too. Obviously you'd have to get a light saber or something in the deal. We'll see as Star Wars land takes shape. I'd guess this will change up as they get closer to 2018 or whenever. Long way off.

Another q this got me thinking about...we will be there during SWW. Is there any advantage to doing the show during the weekend, or should we do it one of the other days we are there? Ignoring this new test system, would the chance to get a spot be any easier during the week?

It'll be better doing JTA during a non SWW day. There's no advantage to do it during SWW, in fact the kids are rushed more because they have more shows to do.

Definitely do it during the week if you can, the park will be far less crowded on a week day when SWW is going on. The show is no different in the weekend, other than potentially fighting a different villain. There are more shows held on SWW days, but far more hopeful participants as well.

It's best to try during the week: EMH if you are onsite; non-EMH if you are off-site.

Sign-ups during SWW have been held at Indiana Jones as a crowd control measure. There is speculation that sign-ups at the Gate are being tested due to construction going on at the old American Idol theater that could potentially impede traffic to the Sounds Dangerous area. If that's true, the construction should be completed prior to the first SWW.

There were issues with picking from the crowd. Same kids picked at multiple shows. One sibling picked but not the others. Families coming to every show and never getting picked. Angry complaints followed. Picking from the crowd still works at DL because there are fewer guests there on their "once in a lifetime" trip.

The same Facebook group that I had originally heard about this test is reporting that the JTA sign ups are back to normal inside the park today. She did not offer any further details about whether or not the sign up location might change again.
Anyone there who may be able to confirm that the sign ups are back to "normal?" (at least for now)

I'll be at DHS this weekend and I'll chat with the JTA sign up CM and see what I can get out of them

Thanks for the responses! We can definitely do a morning EMH for JTA instead of during SWW. I assumed they would do something special. A potential different villain makes no difference though, as this is his first trip to Disney. I would also rather not feel quite as rushed even if we are planning on rope drop one morning for the Stormtrooper show.

We were there on 2/3 around 8:15am (park opening at 9) and saw the sign up cart to the left hand side after we went through the bag check. We were surprised to see it there, but got in line and signed the kids up. Had our pick of shows and then got in the entrance line. It was actually great because then we headed straight for TSM at opening and got to ride it twice with hardly any wait.
And we were there 2/1 and I didn't notice any outside the park sign ups. :( We were first in line (at our gate), so I think I would have had lots of time to notice.
Would have like this. My older kids gave up JTA to do multiple ride on TSMM. If we could have signed up pre-opening it would have suited us.

Sign ups at sound stage this morning. Was very busy at park today, esp midday. Son loved jedi training! Good luck

This was the highlight of our last DL trip and my DS is really looking forward to it again. I do think the sign up is a better system. He got picked the first time we tried in DL, but seeing the sad faces on the kids who didn't get picked was not fun.
