New Items - August 17th

Well, it seems almost a certain foregone conclusion that the "Rurple" outfit is coming any day now, since this is EXACTLY what happened last year. Blue baseball came out ONLY for boys - WHY!?!? - and then the most difficult quest EVER came out for the only baseball outfit girls could have.

It's no secret that they "Rurple" hat is my favorite and that I have traded quite a bit for a few extras. Many people have asked me recently what I think about the possibility of it coming out again.

I am posting this in hopes that VMK Staff reads it and understands the views of VMK players.

If they want to re-release items, that's their prerogative, as much as it completely messes me over from a trading perspective.

HOWEVER -
The reason that outfit (more specifically the hat) is SOOO coveted is due to the fact that the quest to obtain it was truly brutal. You had to play EVERY mini game, an earn amazing scores in every one of them. It took many (self included) HOURS to complete.

VMK, if you are going to rerelease this item: PLEASE do so in the same way that you did the first time - in the most difficult 1 day quest to ever be seen in this game. This way to allow newer players to obtain it (whereby lowering the value - clearly the goal), while not smacking more senior players who had to work REALLY hard for it straight across the face.

So, many have asked me and there's my answer.

Of course what VMK CAN do is allow us to keep our badge of honor and simply release a baseball outfit for everyone in the shops. Hmm... red could be nice. (And if you get that joke, yay for you!).

Yeah, I'd love to be able to obtain another one but still have a chance of being able to trade it...

Shhhhh... ;)

(Off the record, yes: this is Pirate's idea of the VMK Apocalypse. Or, as Cortana would say, "this is the way the world ends.")

I can not wait for Halo 3! VMK will be an afterthought then, if it makes it that far.

I agree. As long as they don't require much more than 3000 points on fireworks. While for many here, that's not much, most of the population still can't play that game worth a darn anymore. I can't get too much above 3000 myself and have yet to even get one pin from that lousy game.

IMO, I think they should also be doing this for the non-rereleased beta items like purple treasure chest, orange organ, etc. It would bring down some of the value, but would still somewhat control what is put out in the game.

But, who knows what VMK will do?
Look at how long they're keeping things for sale now. The only things that have been taken out of the stores in the last few weeks are the weekend pins. Even the blue dress, king's crown and pan hat are still for sale. :(

As for me, I hope "Red" Baseball isn't sold and is released via a tough quest again. Of course, I would prefer another baseball outfit that is easy for all girls to obtain by being sold. Don't get me started on how ticked off I was last May about all of this. Girls are baseball fans too, ya know? :headache: I would've been a far richer virtual person than I am today if I hadn't done several extras of the shirt and pants Quests and traded the pieces away cheaply that week to girls and women who wanted them and were unable to complete the quests. A gal's gotta support her fellow female baseball lovers, after all. :wizard:

I still very clearly remember that evil hat quest. Crashing in Mansion 15 thousand times it seemed liked, getting a massive headache, and being ready to cry my eyes out. Come to think of it, I think that quest did make me cry...

The shoes are rather pointless anyway to anyone who already had football shoes. They're exactly the same; only thing different is the name of the things in your inventory.

Maybe what they'll do is have a new baseball costume that's girls only next week? That way, everyone could have a costume, and Red wouldn't be released via a shop anyway. But at the same time, I agree with macntosh and Pirate... it almost does seem like a going out of business sale. :rolleyes1

ETA: The shoes were tradeable between male and females to begin with. Those shoes were never sold; they were only in a quest.

Sorry, I disagree. That quest WAS brutal, which means not everyone was able to acquire one. (I have to remind everyone that VMK was designed to be a KID'S game. Most of us adults couldn't easily win that hat, let alone VMK's target age group of 8-12 year old children.)
Some players CAN'T play the game for some reason or another. Older pc, laptop, MAC, physical/mental impairments, etc. I don't think it's fair those players have to trade for something everyone else won for free.
So...if the "Red" Baseball Outfit is re-released, I would be all for it being a buyable costume.

I know this probably won't win me any brownie points .. but I don't understand why you want the newbies to suffer through a quest that was clearly painful to a lot of people? Sounds like VMK made a mistake in making the quest so hard the first time around .. after all it is supposed to be a kids game.

woohoo...

Yeah, I just made the rounds looking for a FUN new item.

But we get the "ever popular" baseball costume.

"Way to step up there, Rick..."

Wow If My Computer Worked I Could Own My Fifth Baseball Costume! So I Second That woohoo..

I personally would not like to have to do a quest for the purple hat, let alone do a difficult quest. Why not just put it in the stores and let everyone have a chance to buy it, just like the blue one?

I guess I didn't really explain myself well enough. I definitely don't think the quests should be as daggone obnoxious as they were last year. The hat quest was the worst, and I was very angry with VMK about that. Took me all day to get my hat and a hat for my mother. I would prefer it to be released in a quest, though. When I say "tough quest," I'm not thinking what it was last year, I'm thinking in terms of a Quest that's not just go to room x, y, and z, dance, smile, and be done, if that makes any sense? Play, say, 2 of the mini-games and have reasonable score requirements, perhaps. I also think a girls-only costume should be made for sale so all girls can easily get a costume.

The reason behind me thinking like this is because behind Sparrow, Red Baseball is easily one of the rarest costumes in the game. If VMK wants to cut down on scamming for things like Stitch, Inferno, and so on, taking the stuff that's tougher to obtain and just selling it cheaply only makes Inferno and all that cost more and become harder to trade for. By making some of the things that aren't easy to come by but not totally impossible either available en masse, that drives the cost of the big stuff up, if that makes any sense. Which promotes further scamming and further outrageous demands on the parts of some of the people trading these things. If anyone remembers my big trading list from a couple weeks back, I had a boy elsewhere try to trade me their Stitch hat for every darn last thing on that list, also demanding multiples of everything I hadn't noted as having only one of. That would've cleared me out of everything I own but my Sparrow, some basic quest, buyables, and a couple other pieces of clothing (from last year, not the "rare" stuff) and a couple pins I didn't list. How's that for outrageous?

The above is all precisely why I think EVERYTHING should be sold in the game, including Inferno and the Stitch stuff, but that's another argument entirely.

Those were my sentiments, too. I was thinking that newer players wouldn't
be able to master the quest requirements, or frustrate themselves trying. Which means they won't get the hat, anyway. I'm in favor of the suit being sold in stores, too.

And about today's items...

Woot for Pele! She's my favorite tiki god(dess)!

I dont think vmk needs another girls only outfit, but then again thats just me.
And i think they should sell red baseball, but then again I dont have it, so im biased :p

But as far as I've seen it seems that just about nobody ever wants to trade them, although I know plenty of people with multiples. But yes, by rereleasing all this stuff all they are doing is making it extremely difficult to trade for ANYTHING.

I think it should be rereleased in a difficult quest once again, but definately not as horribly brutal as the first one.
But I really think they should give us some new items that are ONLY FOR SALE THE WEEKEND THEY ARE RELEASED. I've quit trading now that it's impossible to trade anything. Like someone said in another thread, all they are doing is protecting the rich and hurting everyone else.

Well, I think we can ALL agree VMK's target audience has changed over the year.

And if they are going to make everything available for all, I am very excited to see the lowered green car scores so I can get mine. (nope, dont think this should be done, but it shows the error in the "all for all" debate).

And yes, it was brutal. And I don't think it should SUDDENLY be easy to get. Make it available again, fine. However, in the SAME way as before.

I know this probably won't win me any brownie points .. but I don't understand why you want the newbies to suffer through a quest that was clearly painful to a lot of people? Sounds like VMK made a mistake in making the quest so hard the first time around .. after all it is supposed to be a kids game.

I think you misunderstood me. I do not want ppl to "suffer." I want the method to obtain the item to remain the same as last time around. And again, if it's a "kids game," I eagerly await the green car requirements to be such that every kid can get theirs.

All I am asking VMK to do is be consistent, if they must re-release 1 of the hardest quest prizes ever.

I personally would not like to have to do a quest for the purple hat, let alone do a difficult quest. Why not just put it in the stores and let everyone have a chance to buy it, just like the blue one?

Because that would be GROSSLY unfair to those who worked for hours to earn it last time around. Make it available to everyone, yes. But in a way that is fair to those of us who worked REALLY hard for it last time around.

I agree.. By the Way I am the only teen around here? You don't need to answer that just Wondering its seems like I am sometimes.. ANYWAYS I think they should sell the hat for a lot of credits or have like Goofy05 said have a quest that have mini games at REASONABLE points. OR make it brutal but make it two days long. I crash and disconnect a lot because I have a wireless computer and on top of that school is in two days so I would not be able to get it if they make a brutal quest for one day. Just voicing a opinion.
