New info 2012 Dining plan information

My TA just sent me this link
http://media.disneywebcontent.com/StaticFiles/DTA-Domestic/pdf/2012Product/2012Dining.pdf

The 2012 dining plan has been updated with a lot of the restaurants at DD now available that previously weren't.

Here are the new restaurants that I noticed were available that weren't in 2011

Bistro de Paris (2TS)
Fultons Crab House (2TS)
Wolfgang Puck upstairs dining room (2TS)

Rainforest Cafe at AK and DD
TRex
Bongos Cuban Cafe
House of Blues
Portobello
Paradiso 37

I didn't check the quick service brochure to see if there were any updates to that. My TA sent me the regular dining plan link since that is what I have on my package

The brochure is in a new format too with character meals, 1TS and 2TS separated into their own areas

Personally I am glad to see some new options

This will certainly bring more families to DD. With the new family attractions coming in soon (bowling, etc), Disney is starting to convert the old 21 and over DD into another family-friendly pseudo-park.

Oh wow! This might be a game changer! Tomorrow is my 180 window and I might need to tweak my plans now!

Thanks for the update!!!

This will definitely change some plans for our August trip. We always have the dining plan so I have never considered eating at these restaurants. Off to check out some menus ... :thumbsup2

Now a negative change...
In the past, you could get cereal with milk as a snack credit, making an easy snack breakfast.
But notice in the snack section, it now explicitly states that cereal and milk counts as a CS meal...

They really are trying to make it harder and harder to use snack as meal substitutes.

We'll be there in less than a month, so this info came out at just the right time for me. My son has always to go to Rainforest Cafe, so I booked it and planned on paying out of pocket, but now I don't have to.

I just switched my ADR from Grand Floridian to AK Rainforest Cafe. My daughter really wanted to go - now that it's on the DDP we can :cool1:

Earlier this year we were charged 2 snack credits for cereal and milk at Wilderness Lodge, or we could use it as a CS meal and include a drink :confused3

Needless to say, we didn't bother!

It has been that way for a while. Perhaps some CMs haven't been consistent with it? :confused3 But I clearly remember being told in Dec '09 that cereal & milk would be 2 snack credits, or we could add a drink and piece of fruit to make it a CS meal.

If you're looking for a one-credit meal substitute just look in the bakeries or the bakery case at the food courts. Their muffins and danishes are plenty to make a meal out of, especially if you have your refillable mug and don't have to "waste" a snack credit on a beverage.

I think people need to check the website for the Splitsville chain - it's not a family bowling alley. Most of their locations are 21 and up after 8 PM or so and have a dress code. In the evening they are more like a nightclub with bowling.

What we don't know yet is if the DTD location will be different from their usual business model, which caters more to adults than families.

I also don't think Disney ever meant for snack credits to be used as meal substitutes - they had to change the rules once already to prevent guests from using a snack credit on a box of doughnuts and another on a half gallon of milk and feeding the entire family breakfast on two snack credits. As noted, you can still get baked goods as a snack, although you have to get the beverage separately somehow.

Yep. They only have the coming soon splash for the Orlando location with no other info but I think a lot of families are going to be disappointed because I don't expect their business model will be any different there. The adult/nightclub aspect is too big a part of their core concept.

Excited to see Bistro de Paris added...

This is the planned location for my November Birthday dinner in 2012 and while my BF was ready to pay OOP for this meal (we were looking for romantic and in Epcot and though this would be perfect) it's nice to see our DxDP will cover it! May just need to cut out one of our other dinners or turn a breakfast into a snack credit breakfast lol
