New incentives?

There's a reasonably credible rumor out there that AP Renewals will be stopped in July and the entire annual pass program revamped. So no more Pixie, Sorcerer or Incred-Pass for anyone.

If nothing decent for DVC Members is rolled out, I wonder if the incentives will have to get even better. I'm beginning to regret our VGF purchase, but will wait for official news before I do anything.
Curious as to what "credible" is. I have been saying for years, that I think the entire AP program will go away or drastically change. My renewal is in August which would really hurt if it goes away just days before :(

Will tomorrow be a non-event? That is the question.

Will VGF go up in price?
Will we ever see a rollback incentive toward becoming a direct member for less than 150 points?
Will PVB2 go into pre-sale at a crazy incentive level?
Will BWV and BCV have incentives to extend their contracts to 2057?
Will RIV resale restrictions be dropped?
Will new owners get free annual passes?

What, in your wildest dreams, could the next round of incentives be like?
1. No, it will be the event of the year
2. No, Disney does not like to raise prices
3. Yes, rolling back to 2017/2018 and the 25 point minimum
4. Yes, they will significantly undercut the price on VGF and RIV too
5. Actually, the extension will be until 2092
6. Yes, only Pop Century will have resale restrictions (it goes on sale tomorrow too)
7. Yes, but they will be length of stay annual passes
8. Also, the BRV renovation will start tomorrow

With these new incentives would you rather have 150 direct points at Riv/GFV or 200 points resale at AKV? Still trying to get my first DVC contract and these are my frontrunners.

I own RIV direct but was considering adding on some AKV resale points for the last year or so as well. To me, with how much prices of resale contracts have gone up, I’d rather pay a bit more and have unrestricted direct points. I was thinking of buying AKV direct when it was $186/point but when they raised the price to $200/point that sort of eliminated that option for me. I still think about buying AKV resale sometimes as I’d like the 11 month window for value rooms but I still don’t think the savings is enough for me to justify having my points restricted. I’m going to add on at either vgf2 or RIV once some news about the AP comes out.

Decide for yourself:

Getting through those threads will take quite a bit of time. My renewal comes up in August, too, and I am admittedly nervous. Normally, I pay very little attention to rumors as most of them turn out to be pure speculation that posters just made up. This one seems different to me. YMMV.

Thanks for your input. I am very curious to know the experience of current members. I might pull the trigger on Riv today even though I was about to put in another offer for AKV resale!

I’m obviously biased bc I own at both RIV and GFV, but I’d go with going direct at 150 at either resort (maybe GFV more than RIV). GFV has the best resale value of the 3 resorts in case you want to ever leave DVC. AKV generally has good availability at 7 months for the times of year we go and the room types we book. GFV also has lower dues and longer contract. Also with the AKV resale bloodbath going on I don’t think I could handle getting ROFR’ed multiple times.

Time and Money are funny like that, 10 years from now you will think how crazy cheap you got it back in 2022!!
It's true. I bought BWV at an expensive $125pp when it was averaging ~118ish as I wanted to avoid ROFR if possible on a UY contract that matched what I already had. It is now at ~$145pp on average, I think. It may revert at some point but right now several years later, I look pretty good. :)

And it's $230pp direct!

Wow. The incentives and the Magic Key news have me spooked. Maybe it’s time to sell.

Have to say I am getting closer to that boat. I am glad when I bought I did so when RIV was at $155 and I got a good deal on BWV a few years back (sold 2 other BWV contracts to buy RIV).

In the end I should come out even after counting the time/savings I got on APs and stays.
