New Incentives

According to my guide, December UY is not available at AKV- at least not for Kidani. You can get Jambo House December UY- but no Kidani incentives then. Just the straight $112 point price. :scared1: Whether or not this is true, I don't know. Maybe it's a really popular UY? I only asked for December or October- he tried to sell me hard on February, but I wouldn't budge.

He also told me today that there was 1200 points left showing for October UY. I took some of those off his hands...:thumbsup2

That is really strange since AKL points are AKL points once you buy them. I knew that they were selling Kidani points now but didn't know they still had Jambo house left. But I am surprised he is saying no incentives. That just does not sound right. What would happen if an existing member, who already has a Dec UY wanted to add on?

But, if October UY also works for you, then congratulations!!!!!! And, welcome home!!!!

After scrolling through this thread, I'm still not sure exactly what the current incentives are. It's a discount on points, or a cruise, or APs, and possibly you can get a better deal if you have a Disney Visa. Developers points? I'm not sure.

Can anyone summarize the current incentives for me in a nice, clear, easy-to-read way?

It's all here:

Developer points are no longer available.

Maybe the Jambo for Dec. UY comes from a ROFR and are "pre-owned" points? Since I think AKV was sold in phases, maybe that's where the difference comes from... As I recall my BLT paperwork spoke of selling in phases (I think I was in #2), but I don't think VGC is phased. I'll admit I'm not very clear what all the differences about Phases truly mean, however!

Kidani contracts are still new sales right now (except for UYs that are sold out!) and therefore eligible for incentives while sold out resorts (such as the smaller Jambo section) are not???

We added-on at AKV and have a Dec. UY. Our original points are identified with Jambo House, our add-on points are identified with Kidani Village and are Dec UY like our original contract. In the end we have 210 points at AKV - regardless of the building, but MS does break down which points are which when I've made ressies and I've had to tell them which ones to use first vs. borrowing from the next UY for a ressie (when I made our Jan '10 ressie the MS lady was ready to just borrow from the next year on our master contract to cover the needed points instead of combining points from both our master and our add-on contract points first before borrowing anything - to which I corrected her so we used the combined points first and then borrowed as needed).

Thank you, that does clarify things. We live reasonably close to Chicago--in your opinion, is it worthwhile to drive over there to buy into DVC? Are we likely to get a better deal than if we do it by mail?

Are you a new member, or adding on? If you are a new member, then when you go there, you will be assigned a guide there, which might be nice, to have a local guide. You also will get some little giveaways: pins, tote bags, things like that, more than at WDW. Basically, yes, I think it's worth it to go to Woodfield.

New member, but we've sent for literature and they seem to have assigned us a guide already. Will they give us a new guide?

I feel a weekend trip to Chicago coming on. I've been meaning to visit Mitsuwa anyway.

Thank you for explaining it. I didn't realize that they were kept separate in any way. That could explain why the Jambo house points for Dec UY that she was told are available come without the incentives. The incentives must be tied only to the Kidani points.

I wonder if the issue with combining Jambo/Kidani points at AKL will go away once both resorts are open. Since only Jambo points can be used know and Kidani can not, maybe things will be easier after May 1st when Kidani opens.

Silly Little Pixie, I think you are being misinformed on incentives (guide's do make mistakes and some are simply not aware enough of what can and cannot be offered &/or done for a buyer ) Why would Disney make Jambo points less desireable if that's where they're going to draw your points from by offering no incentives ? it doesn't make sense. Because in the end, AKV points are AKV points regardless of what 'pool' they're drawing from - the only difference with Kidani is you couldn't use those pts for a reservation anywhere prior to Kidani opening. afaik, only Kidani points are being sold and have been for awhile.

And do not be influenced into taking a UY you do not really want - tell guide that whether or not you'll puchase depends upon getting the UY YOU WANT.

Get someone else at DVC to explain what this incentive / no incentive thing is about and if you have to get a supervisor/management person on the line and if need be, get another guide ( often what a guide 'thinks' turns out to not be the way things actually are ).

Best wishes & hope things work out in your favor, post back on how it goes.

When I bought an add-on at DWTD, Diane said my FL guide was "protected," whatever that means. (I think it means they split the commission.) If you got some help from the person that was assigned to you, and you want to keep that person, you can do it the same way. On the other hand, if you'd rather have a guide in Chicago, you can ask to switch guides.

When I did my AKV add on last year they were selling Kidani and still had some Jambo. I insisted upon Jambo b/c I would also get 2008 points and the Kidani contracts did not - it was 2009 points since it was opening in May. This was for an Oct UY. It may be possible with Jambo to still get 2008 points for Jun-Dec UY's so that could make a difference. But - incentives were no different between the two, just the extra points I got based on the opening date.
