New Incentives

Yes, I confirmed with my guide the price reductions. Remember, to get the $14.00 off per point, you will not get the cruise incentive or developer points

But, unless those were really a big deal for you, I think the lower price per point is a great deal!

Wow! Thanks. I am surprised this applies to VGC but I will take it!

I have dis board buddy who is on file for my referral and I originally took 160 developer points but having just returned from WDW last week and having a trip planned to DLR in Dec 09 I was likely going to rent them out or use it for a week of RCI :confused3. I like the extra $9 PP discount MUCH better :thumbsup2, especially since we are financing a portion of our membership and the PP savings will also amount to about $500 in interest savings for us. I hve a call in to my guide and hope to hear from him tomorrow!:cool1:

So could someone help me clarify this new incentive?

What are the options for current member adding 100pts at GCV?
I'm really confused

Thanks so much for the help!
It appears that you would get either $8 off per point ($104/pt) + a 3 night cruise. But it's a little tough to tell so maybe it's $6 off.

or you could chose to take $14 off per point ($98/pt) with no other incentives. If the above is $6 then you'd get $12 off per point.

Essentially, it appears DVC decided to roll back prices to last years cost but no additional incentives. Nuff said about the price increase they did a few months ago in this economy.

I'm tempted...that would be $98 for BLT, less than I've paid recently for BCV from DVC.

Can they go lower? It's like timing the market!

I have my papers in but I can still change my incentive. My current deal on 320 BLT pts was the cruise + 160 RCI points. I have been reading alot of posts that say the RCI points are basically worthless and I don't know that I would be able to use them anyway with already taking 2 vacations (cruise and WDW). I still want to keep the cruise becuase we wanted to take it anyway and based on how expensive the cruise is I think it's a great deal. So if I want to keep the cruise what discount would I receive on the BLT price?

We just bought into BLT (220 points) in March, 2009 so, of course, we are going to change our incentives.

Does anyone know where the steps are for the additional discounted price:

Take an additional $$ off the already discounted price....
160 pts take $6.
200 pts take $8. etc...

I assume at 240 you would get $10 off per point (in addition to the $8.00 off)., so that would be BLT at $94 per point. If that were the case, we would be paying $980 less for 20 more points. I'm going to call my guide tomorrow so I'll report on what we end up doing. :goodvibes

Must stop reading this thread, as it's too tempting...

Just spoke with my guide 10 minutes ago. We have paperwork pending for a 105pt add-on at VGC with the cruise incentive. She verified that with this new incentive, an add-on for us would be $98/pt.

We were not too interested in the cruise, but this new incentive will probably do it for us.

Hi,

Is it just me or is there something that I don't get.

We bought 320 points in March. Our incentives were $5 off per point plus a 7 day cruise.

We will take the cruise in 2010 so the 320 points that we will get in 2010 we will rent (considering that we will have already travelled that year). In renting the points at $12, I should get $3840.

On the other hand, with the new incentives, we would get $14 off per point (so an extra $9 off) that means that it would cost us $2880 less.

So do I understand right, it is still a lot more advantageous to stay with the previous incentive, I would be getting approximately $1000 more in my pocket.

In any case, my contract has closed so it does not change anything for me but it is still the way that I see things.

...however, we have a full slate of travel scheduled between now and May 2010. That leaves our first chance to use the cruise as fall '10 which is hurricane season. Ditto for developer's points. So for us, the greater discount per point is way better. For you, maybe not so much...

I think you are correct if you are using the cruise. If you can take the cruise when the dates that are offered. Many people cannot because they don't fall into dates kids are out of school. Also, you probably won't get 12$ for rental. Lots of people out there renting and some are down in the 8-9 dollare range. That said, if you hold out you may find someone who need that much. I think you got a great deal.

just spoke with my guide a couple of hours ago. We're adding 125 at BLT tomorrow!!!!:cool1::worship:

I'M SOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!

I think you are right, for people who find the cruise offer appealing, that is still a better. incentive. For us, a family of 5 who are in are in AZ, the dates available meant traveling back to Orlando (just got back last week) so 5 airfares we were not planning on, plus adding additional person, PLUS upgrading to a room that would accomodate us. Suddenly the "free" cruise was not so free in our case;)

Now we can take a straight cash discount instead of developer points which I didn't really have use for due to the Oct expiration. That makes us very happy!

We plan to take a Disney Cruise once it starts leaving from LA in 2011 as that will save us $$ in airfare so it will be like getting another bonus all over again!

Can someone post the available dates for the cruise? We'll be joining new and looking at about 200 point at BLT.

Thanks.

When I compare the AKV price per point with both discounts to the ones posted on the ROFR thread, it makes me think buying resale might not work for us -- Disney ROFR'd a contract in Jan. that is the same price per point as we can get now.

Exactly. I was dead set on resale because I couldn't use the cruise. We are a family of 5 (cruise deal is for up to 4 people) and we're really not cruisers. So IMHO it was a better deal to go resale. BUT now that they have basically put prices back to last years price per point it is a better deal for us to go directly through Disney. Once you add in closing costs on a resale contract (disney doesn't charge closing) your paying the same amount you would pay to buy direct from Disney and it's so much easier to buy direct from Disney:). (at least I've heard resale can be a bit of a pain).

okay,

I am now very confused. Our close date is not until June but we signed our paperwork last wk and received our incentives.

Can we still change our deal? I would like to keep our cruise but the RCI certficate is basically worthless unless you can travel last minute. Plus, Mary Poppins tickets and $300 Visa. Seems like the lower cost on AKL would still be better.

Question #2 - Even if we could change incentives - do you now have put up the full 10 percent down or can you still apply the price point reduction to down payment? We used the downpayment assistance with the idea of putting money back down next year when we receive our 8K refund for buying home this year.

Seems like with these price reductions, we WAY overpaid per point for AKL.

Thanks for the advice! By the by, we bought 200 points (only want 1BR in off season and like to bank points sometimes). Hoping for one of the Italy Adventures one day:love:
