New incentives this week? 01/18/2010

So you get last year's points as well? Is this only for AKV and SSR?

Typically, when you buy, you are given current UY points for your purchase. Since we are still in the 2009 UY for all months, new buyers, regardless of the resort, should be offered 2009 points.

Of course, once we hit Feb. 1st, Feb will start its 2010 UY, and no 2009 points will be offered for that particular UY. But, if a new buyer decided to ask for, say a March UY instead, then 2009 points should be part of the deal.

Thanks for the clarification. I soooo want to buy, and I'm trying to find every possible reason why I should do it now. This seems like the best possible time.

Another dumb question - is your guide the one who did the tour or is that just the sales front?

TIA!

Also - about the incentives...if you purchase enough points to get 8 APs, it says 4 for WDW and 4 for DL!

New purchasers need to buy in at 160 points minimum at either AKV or VGC only to get 8 APs and it does NOT have to be split 4 at WDW / 4 at DLR so if the purchaser wanted 8 at WDW ( or 8 at DLR ) they can get that. If the purchase is financed then Disney will hold off issuing the AP vouchers to the purchaser until at least a 1 year worth of payments are made. And if a cash off incentive is chosen then the purchaser is not eligible for AP offer.

:goodvibes

personally, I took the discounted points...then called tonight and changed my option to the 8 AP's. If you look at it, it is a bigger savings going with the 8 AP's vs. the discounted points. So, we went that route...the way I look at it...if planned correctly, my wife and I can go to Disney "free" for 8 years to come!

We would still buy for the kids...it is crazy using the vouchers to exchange them for a child ticket. You leave money on the table!

My guide was assigned to me as I bought in with a small resale contract. A week after that contract closed, I added on at BLT and called and they connected me to him. I was lucky because I think he is great!

Because I had not done the tour prior to being a member (I went this summer during our first trip to meet him), I am not 100% sure how it works but I believe that the guide that tours you will be your offiical guide.

Just wondering if the webcast is still available. We just bought at $115- our guide said that there was no other deal. We haven't signed our agreement yet. we are working on our third one...still waiting for it
I hate the feeling that I am not getting the best deal possible.
Anyone know?
Thanks,
Michelle

I spoke with our guide on Wednesday about an AKV add on and with a 100-159 pt add-on you get 4 adult standard AP vouchers, with 160+ pt add-on you get 8 adult standard AP vouchers. If you choose DL vouchers they do expire, I believe sometime in 2011. If you choose WDW vouchers they never expire. Depending on how much you put down and whether you finance it or not, there could be as much as a 14 month waiting period before they give you the APs. They basically want to recoupe their costs so if you put down a large down payment your wait is much less. Obviously if you pay cash you get them right away.

You also have the option of taking a cash discount in lieu of the APs, something like $1600 for 100-159 pt add on and $2400 for 160+ add on. We were thinking of doing a 160 pt add-on so the value of 8 adult APs would be more than the $2400 cash discount, around $3200 for 8 APs.

Also, since we have a March UY we would also get free 2009 points that can be banked immediately.

You do pay full price, $112/pt, for taking advantage of these incentives but in our case the incentive value totals almost $5000 if we assume the value of the 2009 points is around $10/pt so that effectively brings the cost per point down to around $82/pt. That's less than many AKV resales right now. Its a very tempting offer and I'm having a hard time resisting

The webcast was in December and unless you were able to watch it then, you would not be eligible.

And, IIRC, the incentives that were offered were only good for a short time after the last webcast (sometime in mid December).

Right now, BLT is going for $115 so you are getting the best that is out there for now.

But, keep an eye on things as you can ask to rewrite the contract if new incentives come out before your contract gets closed. We did that last winter. We had signed and sent the contracts back and a new incentive came out a few weeks later. I called and luckily, my guide was able to pull it (was scheduled for closing the next day) and I got the better incentive.

Thanks for the quick reply. I wish we did this last year. The incentives were better. It would be nice if something happens before we sign and we can get a better deal, but if not, that's ok too. I hate to spend all of my time second guessing myself and the timing of this purchase.
