New Hotels

Does anyone know where these new hotels are in relation to Park entrances? Any feedback?

Great Wolf Lodge
Hyatt House Anaheim

If anyone can use existing hotels to describe location- that would be great!

Courtyard is up Harbor from the crosswalk to the transit center. It looks like maybe a 15-20 minute walk from the gates. Great Wolf is a couple of miles I do believe and not walkable. I think they have a shuttle. The Hyatt House I've never heard of. I'm guessing Courtyard is the closest.

Great Wolf Lodge is about 3 miles south of DL on Harbor Blvd in Garden Grove. We just stayed there last weekend.

There is a Hyatt Place (not Hyatt House) under construction at the corner of Harbor and Katella. It's about 1/4 mile from the entrance.

The Hyatt House I've never heard of.

The Hyatt House is at the SE corner of Katella and Harbor. It was supposed to be open by now, but for some reason the opening has been repeatedly delayed. It is currently taking reservations starting August 30, 2016.

EDIT 2: DLgal, the hotel still under construction is a Hyatt House. There is also a Hyatt Place slightly farther south on the west side of Harbor (immediately south of the Clarion, I believe).

The Courtyard is beside the Hojo, we walked past it, it is not 15-20 minutes by a long shot, it's more like 8!

We are staying at The Courtyard in July and are super excited about it. Just last night they posted on their Facebook page that their hotel has been rated the #1 hotel in Anaheim out of 114 hotels on TripAdvisor. This is the fastest that a new hotel has achieved that rating.

Our last two trips we stayed right next door at the Fairfield. I concur that the walk to the gates is under ten minutes from there. (Hubby just corrected me to say it's more like seven minutes, LOL.)

To answer your question about location in relation to other hotels . . . when we were at the Fairfield, we could see the construction next door as The Courtyard was going up. So I guess you could say it's one building further away from the park gates, going up Harbour Blvd.

It would be about the same as the PPH and shorter than the DLH - nothing compares to the GCH though that is off site.

D = center of the Esplanade between DL and DCA

The GCH is the hotel you cut through when coming from the PPH.

I was under the impression (I think I read it here) that for quite a few years now, in order to receive a building permit from the city of Anaheim for either new construction or a major remodel, a business had to agree to not have private shuttles, but to point their patrons at ART. It's a way for the city to promote ART. So I believe that none of the new hotels will have private shuttles.

The Great Wolf Lodge is not within the city of Anaheim limits. It is in Garden Grove. Regardless, I do not think they have a shuttle. The ART doesn't go out that far.

We're staying 1 night and taking advantage of the waterpark for 2 days, access starts at 1 pm on check-in day and ends at closing on check-out day.

Great Wolf is pretty pricey and you're really paying for the waterpark, so it wouldn't make much sense to me to stay there and go to Disneyland. We're staying 1 night and taking advantage of the waterpark for 2 days, access starts at 1 pm on check-in day and ends at closing on check-out day.

Yeah, I don't think staying there to visit Disneyland as your primary destination is a very good idea unless you can score one of the sub $200/night rates in the off season. We live like 10 min from GWL so we did a birthday wekeend there for our son last week. We did the waterpark on both days, it was open until 10pm our arrival nighy so we spent 3 hours there after dinner. We did the breakfast buffet (MUCH better than any of Disney's buffets and only $14 per person). We did the waterpark again after breakfast. Just stashed our bags in the car (they have a parking structure--and parking is FREE.) We got a small locker for my purse and kept a backpack with change of clothes for before we headed home. There are bathrooms with showers and changing stalls inside the waterpark.

Honestly, we thought it was fantastic! The employees were TOP NOTCH (kinda puts Disney to shame). The waterpark was clean and not crowded. Hardly any long lines (this was Friday and Saturday).

Upon coming home, I had an email from them thanking me for our stay and an offer code good for 50% off on stays the rest of the year if I book again before April 8. We are heading back, definitely! Had a great time. The theming is a little sparse, kind of Wilderness Lodge and Fairfield Inn had a baby. But the rooms are large amd well equipped. Beware the super high tax rate. It is around 25%. Brings up the per night price considerably.

Thank you! It's great to hear that it wasn't crowded even on Friday and Saturday. Some of the very early reviews were pretty bad - about crazy lines and clueless employees. Seems like it's all worked out now. I'm so relieved and looking forward to our stay.

I mean, it wasn't EMPTY, but when I compare it to a Disney water park, it was nothing like that. The longest we waited in line was maybe 10 minutes. I think some reviews expected the place to have NO lines or just be able to walk on every slide. That's unrealistic, even for a midweek stay. The water park has a maximum capacity of 3,000. I would estimate there were probably 1,000 people at most on both days we were there, but the hotel was VERY close to booked solid. There are 600 rooms. Every room would have to have the maximum guest capacity in order to max out the water park. It's probably a pretty unlikely scenario.

Did the Great Wolf have a shuttle?

Yes, we stayed here this week, and although we didn't utilize it, the hotel does have a shuttle. It runs every 30 minutes starting 30 minutes before park open thru 45 minutes after park closing. It is run by ART (and thus costs $5 for adults and $2 for kids) but I don't believe there are any other stops on the way. In fact the shuttle has a Great Wolf Lodge decal that covers it. BTW, I found the Great Wolf Lodge to be awesome! I understand from friends who stayed there opening week that they had a lot of issues, but they seemed to be worked out by the time we got there.
