I noticed in the Vacation Magic blurb about the new HH booking catagory at OKW, they did not mention building numbers. I looked on the member website, and didn't even see any mention of the new catagory on there at all. Does anyone have any specific information about WHICH buildings are considered to be that catagory? I was thinking buildings 11-14 and maybe 62 and 63, but would they also consider 15, 16, 64, and the buildings of Penninsular Road in the catagory as well? If so, that would be about a third of the whole resort!

I don't think anyone knows what specific buildings/rooms will be designated at Hospitality House locations at this point (except for DVC). I'm guessing the reason for the change was most likely some very vocal guests at check-in that demanded that their "request" be met. Personally, I prefer the more outlying areas of OKW, like Turtle Pond and South Point, as the parking for the 11-14 building is horrible due to the limited parking for overall Hospitality area.

I spoke with MS yesterday ( to request buildings for our trip).

I was told that buildings 62, 63 and 64 are for those with special needs.

Hospitality House requests are buildings 11-14 and
buildings 23-26.

This is in effect now when making building requests.

Thanks! I was thinking it might mean 23-26 as well. Interesting that they keep all the elevator buildings for special needs. That's also good to know. It might also explain why I got an elevator building when I needed to use an ECV.

We've been members since '92 and have always requested and stayed in 23-26. I sure hope this doesn't hurt us in the future.:scared:

Actually, there are two ways to look at it... On one side, this could work to your advantage since you have the 11-month window to book these rooms. On the flip side, it may mean that others who didn't care before may now request these rooms since they are now in a new category.

It sure will be interesting to see what happens!

Are they going to make all the parking spaces at bldgs 62, 63 and 64 all handicapped parking? Oh, forgot, Bldg 64 doesn't have a parking lot.

My husband and I noticed this in our new Vacation Magic also. I'm not surprised. We've been members since 1991 and have always had a great room location without requesting one particular building, BUT I have noticed that over the years some people are becoming more and more vocal (good word Chuck S) and I think this is hurting all of us. We just came back a couple of weeks ago and I was amazed at how some people were talking to the CMS. One guy behind me was demanding very loudly that they be put in one particular building! He said that his wife would be very mad if they did not get that building. I couldn't believe it. They can't be happy anywhere else on property?? The poor CM. She was trying, but there didn't seem to be any rooms left in the building that he wanted and offered him a room in the NEXT BUILDING. He was screaming NO at this point and my husband and I were just shaking our heads. I then started a conversation with the CM who was checking us in and I told her how hard it must be for them with some of these "guests". She then took her time and offered us a choice of three different rooms and we picked one and had a wonderful vacation. I wanted to go over and tell the screaming guy that you just might get better service if you stop screaming and use your common sense, but my husband and kids stopped me. I guess it is time for some room locations to become "premier" and I believe that soon they will be more points. And yes I know that they can't make more point without taking away others, but I think Disney will figure it out.

It is truly sad that people have to make others around them miserable to be happy. I really do feel bad for the CMS when people act this way.

When they added the boardwalk view at BWV, I was estatic. I would know upfront if I got it or not. I always book at 10 or 11 months and have got it everytime since.

It's good to know which buildings, because then I know I could request building 15, and it wont be considered HH area. We really think that building is one of the gems along with 45, 46, 55, and 56. We love that it is equidistant from HH and Miller's bus stops, so if you see the bus you want go by, you can usually catch it at HH. We disliked building 64. It had elevators, but it had no parking lot, and it was always a hike to the car.

Members there can plan accordingly to increase their chances of success and if booked up, members will have first crack at guaranteeing their location as it should be.

I know that Buildings 23-26 (Peninsular Road) are very popular. But it appears that Buildings 11-14 are also included in the HH Category? So nobody will know when booking the HH Category if they will be at Peninsular Road or next to the HH parking lot?

To me, 23-26 are very nice locations, but 11-14 would be about the last place we'd want to be. So if someone reserves HH Category they have an equal chance of being assigned into either set of buildings?

That's true, Granny, but 11-14 are the buildings I would think would be classified as HH area. To me Penninsular Road is it's own catagory, and while close to HH, very different from 11-14.

I think it's actually the other way. Buildings 11-14 are the ones within this group that are generally requested as "near the HH" far more than the ones across the street on Peninsular Rd.

Actually, when we have stayed in 13 and 14 we have used the same touring/bus tactics that we did when staying in the Peninsular Road units and even the units on the HH side of Miller's Road. When we stay in that area, we usually go to HH bus stop to go to the parks, and get off at the Peninsular Road bus stop when coming back. The walks at OKW are highly over emphasised in my opinion, and not as bad as many make them out to be. Besides, I don't mind walking outside nearly as much as I mind walking in a hallway!;)

I agree, Dean. Frankly, I am kind of disappointed that 23-26 are included, but I understand it I guess. We love those buildings and usually request to be in them (not directly but through a request that those buildings fit). We made a different request for our upcoming trip, so I am guessing that these buildings just got taken out of the equation, LOL.

I'm kind of surprised that they don't include the 60's buildings and building 16. Those still seem very close to HH to me.

I worded my comment incorrectly. I know that 11-14 are probably the ones that people would consider to be "near HH" since they are right there. The point Diane makes is the one I was trying to make...that by lumping 11-14 & 23-26 in the same bookable View Category, it will still be a crapshoot if someone really wants to be in 23-26. I suppose that they will need to accept requests within the view category, as they do elsewhere and hopefully that will make the situation better.

I'm just thinking that most people who ask for "near HH" really would like 11-14 or 16 and the 60's buildings. Just seems like a weird lumping together of villas to me. :confused3

You could make a request to be in buildings 23-26. Since the hospitality homes aren't a request anymore, they don't count as your "first request". So you probably still have as good a chance as any to get your preferred area, as long as you book before the HH views book up. Of course, that's the trick isn't it?

We usually will request a room near the Southpoint Pool but, more and more, we are flying rather than driving. In those cases, I would actually prefer the HH locations for their convenience to the resort ammenities.
