Hello everyone. I'm new here. I'm not new to Disney, I've been 3 times before, but this will be my first trip with kids. They are 2 1/2 and 6. Here's the deal:

My husband has to go to the Marriott World Resort for a user conference for work. His boss told him to add on a few extra days to the trip and take us with him so we could have a family vacation, all being paid for by his company. So we will be there from Feb. 3rd - 9th. My husbands conference will be Friday afternoon, all day Saturday, some of Sunday and a few hours Monday Morning. So we will have Tuesday and Wednesday for the whole family do to something all day. My dilema is how to handle the times when it will be just me and the boys. My youngest is quite a handful. I know that I will probably do Sea World with them by myself because I think I can handle that. I'm so excited about the trip, but I'm a little nervous at the same time at the thought of having to go to the parks with just the boys and me. I know that probably sounds crazy, but my 2 1/2 year old is a pistol.

Another drawback is that we are not staying inside the Disney Resort, so it won't be as easy to get back and forth to the parks.

One more thing, we are driving from Virginia and it's about an 11 hour drive. My husband wants to leave a day early, drive part way and then continue on the next day. Where would be a good stopping point to spend the night?

Thanks everyone. There is a lot of info on this site that I need to go over for this trip. I love DISNEY, but like I said, I've never been with children before.

Welcome to the Dis!!!! :goodvibes

I would think about the things that you definiately don't want to miss, and do those the days your dh will be with you. Keep an open mind and laid back approach to the other days when it is just you and the kids. You could do a half day at one of the parks with a character meal one day. I'm sure the hotel has a shuttle service. As well as Seaworld, like you mentioned. Sorry I'm not much help! But..... Have fun!!!! :cool1:

Welcome!

I agree with Karalynn. Take it easy and do what you can. When the boys get tired and/or cranky, call it a day.

We did the same thing when my kids were 2 and 5. I was worried about keeping an eye on the kids in the parks by myself. We stayed at the All Stars (to use the Disney buses) and made DH take our van to his conference site everyday.

Would it be possible to take someone with you? Your Mom, or favorite babysitter?

Check with the hotel about shuttles or study a map of Orlando. I hate driving in cities of any size, but I've learned how to get around Orlando, its not too hard.

Good luck and let us know what you decide to do.

Thanks for the replies. Fortunately, my husband's conference is in the resort, so I will be able to use the car if I need it. And I've driven in Orlando before, so I don't think I'll mind that. I'm going to have to check with the resort on their transportation to the disney parks and see if there's a charge or what the deal is. If I drive and need to leave the park, I don't want to have to pay for parking again to come back. Does anyone know if they would let you back in without paying again? There are so many things I need to check out since I'm going with kids this time.

There isn't anyone we could take with us, unfortunately.

Thanks again.
