Hi! I'm new to the board and we are planning our first trip to Disney World for next Easter. (2005) We have two boys aged 12 and 2 right now - they will be almost 14 and 4 by the time we go. We've done some looking online for costs, but it's hard to do this far ahead. So I'll just keep reading and gathering info.

I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions, but I'm just reading through right now. I am so excited to be able to even plan this trip - it's not something I ever really expected to be able to do! (and the kids won't know until probably the night before we leave for the airport, so I have to look and plan carefully).

Nice to see a spot for Canadians here.:wave2:

Welcome to the Dis.....I remember that excitement I felt when I first found this place. It was unbelievable that all of this info could be in one place....plus they had a spot for us CDN'S. It was too much joy!!!!

Happy Planning.....just be prepared....I'm sure this won't be the last trip you plan to the world!

This is, without a doubt, your best source for information about WDW anywhere. Without we would have missed so much on our last trips... keep planning bit by bit and beforer you know it you will have pages and pages and pages of info. One other important thing I think is to ask... if you ahve a quetion ask it... it is great to erad what others are asking and saying, but asking your own specific questions gets you great results...:)

P.S. Used to live in Swift Current !

We lived in Hodgeville for two years. We did all of our shopping etc. in Swift Current. We're now North East (I think) of Regina.

I think I could spend 1/2 my day here right now, but I better not!

Knew people form Hodgeville way back when, and still have family in Swift, Saskatoon and Herbert... it truly is a Small World :) :) :) Like you, could and often do spend all day here... anways something new comes up...:)

 SKFamily and welcome to the DISboards and especially the Canadian DISboard.

Welcome to the boards--we just found them last month and have found soooo much good information from reading and posting!

Oooooo, look at that timer!

:earsgirl: :earsboy: princess:

So...what are you planning for your trip? Where are you going to stay? Flying or driving? How long are you going for?

Yep, we're a nosey bunch...well, at least me:D

Welcome!!

:sunny:

Let's see...

-All we know for sure for the trip is dh wants to go to Kennedy Space Center.
-Who knows where we're staying at this point
-We're flying
-Going over Easter next year, so dh plans to take a couple of extra days off and wants to fly out the Thursday before Easter and come home the following Friday.

I talked to a travel agent this afternoon and she said they won't have any information until August or September so I guess I just dream on here until then, collect info and drive myself nuts! I've been to the allears site and I'll have a look at the other one later. I'm still pinching myself every once in a while to make sure we're actually planning this and not just daydreaming about it.

Welcome to DIS and the Canadian Board :wave2: Planning a trip is so much fun! I'm sure you'll get lots of great ideas and tips here :)

Welcome to the Dis! I'm addicted to this place. So many friendly people to offer advice and guidance!
Have fun planning your trip!

Buy a copy of

"Unofficial Guide to WDW" and read it cover to cover with a highlighter. No joke...I did this before our first trip and got soooo much info it was insane. It saved us a ton of money and gave us very useful tips...I even found this board listed on one of it's pages.

The touring plans for each park saved us a bunch of time by not standing in line and we loved that it gave very honest opinions on everything from a budget minded view to a luxury view of things.

Get the book...What it can't answer...WE CAN!!!

Welcome and I hope this helps...:wave2:

Welcome to the Treasure Trove of Information! Not only that, but you will make some true friends here, and what better common thread to bind people together than Disney Magic?

I second the buying of the Unofficial Guide. I buy the most recent version and read it several times cover to cover before we leave. I'm beginning to know which words have been changed from year to year!

I also suggest checking into Dreams Unlimited Travel at www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com. Don't be worried that it's an internet agency and you can't see anyone face to face. It's been around a long time and you will feel like you know your travel planner well by the time your itinerary is finalized. I have planned many trips alone, and having someone who knows the parks, hotels, and restaurants inside out and can answer specific questions is invaluable. When I asked my guidebook, sometimes it just didn't answer.

Last, but not least, set the timer to ring when you are on these Boards or 30 minutes will slide into 3 hours before you know it... not always a bad thing unless you have to pick up your kids on time at school...

Happy planning!

Can I buy the "Unofficial Guide" from here? (haven't gone far yet...) I also have to hide anything I get from a very intuitive 13 year old boy. Although, I have a place for doing that - one I'm sure he wouldn't dare look!;)

Thanks for all the info.

Can you get it from Amazon.com? If not, and if you can't find it up there somewhere, let me know and I'll get you one and send it and you can reimburse me!

Are you trying to surprise your kids? Or do you need to hide the book so that he won't get it and it won't be lost in the depths of a messy bedroom? ;)

I bought my Unofficial Guide from Chapters. It is an excellent source of information!

And welcome to the DIS boards! These boards are amazing and the people are so nice and helpful! You can ask anything you want and people are so good about trying to help you out.
