Hi

Read lots of good things about this board. I hope you guys can help me and my family out. We're seriously planning on taking our first Disney cruise (in fact, our first cruise ever!) The details:

who: 4 adults, (1) 3 year old
when: hoping to be anytime in the next few months
what: want to take the 3 night or 4 night cruise

My questions:

Where can i find the best deal (on flights and the cruise)? We're flying out of SFO or OAK.
If we get the "cheaper price" does that mean we'll be staying in the "cheaper part" of the crusie ship? Sorry for the terms, not really sure how else to say it. :(
Does it matter what part of the ship we stay in?

I'm sure I'm going to have other questions but this is all for now. Thanks so much in advance!

Welcome Marie,

You'll find lots of info on these boards.

The ships, Magic (7) and Wonder (3,4) are basically the same. The categories start at the least expensive of 12 to the most expensive at 1. If you go to the dcl site you can get a quote for the cruise you want to go on. It will bring up all the available categories and the prices.

The catergories are mixed on the ship. So it's not necessarily the section of the ship but rather the kind of room. We stayed in a cat. 11 (7127) for our 3-night trips and have chosen it again for our 7. 2 adults and a teen. We were quite happy. The rooms are not huge, but they are said to be the biggest among the other lines.

I am terrible with web sites. If someone doesn't post them right away, I'll get back to you on some great sites.

I'm back!

www.dcltribute.com is a great site. From here you can get the dcl site and the platinum castaway club (barb and tony) under Dave's list of links.

You'll find deck plans, differences in staterooms (pictures too!), noisy rooms to avoid, info on car services, hotels anything you want to book your cruise. If you don't find it, just ask on this board.

All of the parts of the ship are nice. The Magic and Wonder are not like the class ships of the past. Everyone, no matter what category state room, has access to the whole ship. Everyone eats in the same places. The person in a category 12 gets just as much service as the person in the Walt Suite (except the upper categories, suites, do have a concierge and expanded room service and advance ressies for spa and Palo). Don't worry, there is no "steerage". Usually, the sooner you book, the cheaper. Someone who books at the last minute may pay more for a lower category than a verandah booked way out.
