Hi everyone!
I'm new here, just registered although I have been lurking awhile. This seems like a great place to hang out:)

I have a couple trip planning questions... I hope this is the right place to post this. If not I will poke around and see what I can find. Anyhoo... we are taking our boys ages 3 and 6 the first week of December and I wanted to know what the weather is like at theat time and what I should pack to wear. I also wanted to know if there is a meet and greet with Lightning McQueen and Mater, and if the PhotoPass people are on hand to take the pics there. I know the characters are at MGM, but beyond that I have no idea where and if there is a schedule for them.
Thanks everyone!!!

Not a clue about the weather, but I believe the only place to meet the characters you mentioned are at MGM. I think there is a charachter breakfast there in the park but I am not 100% sure. Enjoy the time..All the decorations will be up and I hear those are awesome:)
Enjoy this special trip, I leave in 333 days:)
Blessings to you and your family

Hi again. For a newbie, I keep finding your posts :rotfl2:

I was there the past few years the last week in Nov. or early Dec. The weather is usually nice, not much rain, but can be changeable. In 2004, we went to Epcot and I wore a jeans outfit, long sleeve tee and light weight jacket and by Illuminations I had to buy a sweatshirt, I was freezing. DH only had a golf shirt on and he bought a coat!! The next day at MK I wore a warm up suit with a tank top and carried by sweat shirt all day, but I needed it by night.

Don't know what area of the country you live, but I am in Philly and today was just like that. Cool in the morning and night, but perfect during the day. Bring a little of everything and you'll be fine. If you can lift your suitcase, you don't have enough packed :rotfl: Good luck and enjoy!!!

Can't help you out on the character thing, so I'll defer that to others.

The weather during this time is usually still pretty nice. YOu run the risk of some winter chills sneaking up every now and then, so I might suggest bringing sweatshirts/sweaters (or being ready to grab them during the evening). But, usually it's not too rainy, and the days are quite nice. Also, the crowds are light, and the decorations are wonderful. It's a good time to go IMHO.

You pretty much summed it up perfectly!!!:thumbsup2

Mater and Lightning McQueen have a meet set up in MGM. If you grab a guide when you enter the parks you can find out what time they will be out. Get there early, from past experiences it can get very crowded. There were no photopass photographers when we were there. It used to be a free for all, now they have a line. Good luck and enjoy planning your trip.

Welcome to the DIS:wave2:

:welcome:

Yes, take your bathing suits and sweatshirts...you never know about the weather.

Like all Florida weather it will be unpredictable! We went the first week of December 2 years ago because I hate heat. I had heard such great reports of how it is so plesant and mild that time of year. I checked here and the week after Thanksgiving people were reporting wearing gloves and coats in the morning and at night, long pants during the day and I was very happy. But just before we left the forecast began to look a bit warmer :sunny: . So at the last minute I threw a bag of shorts and tshirts for everyone into the car, just in case. .

They ended up having a huge HEAT WAVE! Even the locals were saying "WOW, it is HOT. Never had it so hot like this". It was in the 90's all week! I was glad we drove because the coats, hats, gloves, jeans, sweatshirts and all we had planned to wear just stayed in the car. The really cute sweatshirts I slaved over to make for MVMCP were put on for the photo and then taken off and we are covered in sweat for the picture  .

So plan for a little of everything and know that you will have a great time no matter what!

Welcome Flamingomo to the DIS!

Glad you decided to come out of "lurker mode"!

Wow, Hi everyone!!! Thanks for such a warm welcome and for all the tips! I too dislike hot weather immensely and I am hoping for fall like weather when we go. We will be making the 15 hour drive from Delaware and leaving at about 4am. Our boys have no idea we are going and we won't be telling them until we get in the car:) Should be funny. I will be sure to pack clothes for both cool and warm weather just in case. I am really excited, but trying to plan this in secret is really tough. We have a friend who works there and he is getting us some great discounts and even a couple free park passes so we are truly even more excited about that. I am hoping for sunshine all week, but I guess that is a silly thing to hope for as I know the weather can change in a minute in Florida. We went last time in mid October and it was 105...UGH!!! Horrible. But it was sunny the whole time and only rained for an hour one night while we were at dinner. Well it will be nice sharing my excitement with you all as we get closer. Thanks again for being so nice!

When DGF,her DD8, DS10 and me went in 04 we never told them till we got in the parking lot of MK. We stayed off site that year so they really didn't know what we were doing. We passed a couple signs on the way to the hotel. They said that they wanted to go to WDW, but we told them that we couldn't afford it maybe another year. We ask them what they thought we were going to and they said the beach, because we were in Florida. So when we got off the bus at MK parking lot we finally told them where we were. They really got excited :woohoo:  :cheer2:
