Hi, I'm new here, and I'm hoping someone here can help.

DH and I have 2 girls - 5 and 8 - never been to Disney before.

We have decided to take off and spend 2 months traveling the SE and FL via RV (30ft trailer).

We want to be at Disney from Dec 4-8. Had no idea that Camp Wilderness would be booked solid at this time of year. :sad1:

Any suggestions on where to stay? Any packages? We need to be on a big time budget - is this even possible at Disney?

Biggest issue, I guess, is finding somewhere decent to stay where we can still get the full disney experience for the girls.

Thanks for any/all help/advice.

Sally

The closest and nicest RV park outside of Disney is Tropical Palms on W. Irlo Bronson Hwy (aka US Hwy 192). It's about 5 minutes from WDW & right next to Old Town. (800) 647-2567

My suggestion would be to try and change your dates, because if you want the "full disney experience" for your girls, Fort Wilderness is really where you should be if you are traveling in an RV. Good luck-sounds like an amazing vacation! :)

I would call, call, call. And check the online site. Chances are good your persistence will pay off. You really don't get the full experience staying offsite.

We have been at the Fort that week the past several years, and it is a great week to be there! It is also not that busy, although every year it seems busier than the last.

I would suggest modifying (if your schedule permits) your request from the 4th-8th to the 5th-9th, or even the 6th-10th. I am guessing that it is the 4th that is messing you up, as that's a Saturday and weekends fill up more quickly. Try for a Sunday or Monday check in and see if anything is available.

Great advice......especially if you have access to a computer. Reservation cancellations are done in "real time" now, so as soon as reservations are cancelled, they are available almost immediately. Fort Wilderness is really the only place I would be if at all possible.

Yeah, I just looked online. If you check in on Sunday the 5th and check out Friday morning the 10th, there are campsites available.

Another pointer that a lot of people on this board use is to book beyond your dates and then call and cancel the days you don't want later. For some reason the reservation system sometimes won't allow smaller stays but if you extend your trips to say a week or more all of sudden your days become available. A reservation only requires a one night deposit so no worries there. Just keep playing with days (try all kinds of variations) to see if that will work.

On another note, I believe those days in December are during value season, so you could probably stay in a value resort for pretty cheap, if the Fort is booked up. If you're wanting to get the Disney experience I would rather stay on Disney property even if it meant no camping, but that's just my opinion.

Thanks everyone!!!! :goodvibes

I went on line and we are booked Dec 4-8!!!!

Thanks so much for the help!
