Hi. We're new here, although I have been reading and gathering information for months for our trip Oct. 20-27th. I had booked a package back in March for POFQ but received an email with a code and was able to get $500 back to switch to POR. My TA did the switch. I'll gladly save the money!!! I was just wondering if and when we should request certain buildings and any other pertinent info would be greatly appreciated. It will be myself, DH, my mother, DD4 (turning 4 on the trip), DD1 (will be 20 months). Just trying to consider the least amount of walking along with the stroller issue. (We are going to bring one for our youngest and rent one.)

Thanks everyone!!

You need to call now and request a building as it should be noted on your reservation. The room assignor looks at your request when assigning rooms and apparently does this in the week before your arrival. I think you will love POR; it has always been one of our favorite resorts. We have wonderful memories of POR. Have a great trip!!

I have only stayed in the mansion section, and I just loved it...it's beautiful. I think POR is one of the best themed and most beautiful of all the resorts - deluxes included!

You might want to try and get a room with a trundle bed (only available in the Alligator Bayou section), if that fits your taste. It might give your DD4 some extra room and some extra "fun".

I just saved $100 by switching from POFQ to POR for marathon weekend. I was able to apply my AAA rate, and they were out of POFQ rooms. I requested Magnolia Bend, so I'm still as close to POFQ as I can be for beignets...It wasn't worth $100 to me to be at POFQ. I'm hoping I won't be sorry!

We also switched from FQ to POR for our Oct. trip but I hope it wasn't a mistake. It seems like POFQ is better in some ways--newer, smaller, quieter. We ended up saving a bunch by switching so I guess either way, it wasn't a mistake!

I just got the pin code and it will cost me $146/night with tax at the POFQ for Oct21-26. This is a room only reservation. How did you save 500 for the same time period? I know they told you to switch to POR. Did they mention why that would be so much less?

I am really not sure how that happened. We made the package reservation in March (full price) for 10/20-10/27 for POFQ , park tickets w/hopper (3 adults and 1 child) plus dining. I got a pin code in my email that my TA had to call and have applied, but I am not sure exactly what the discount applied to--room, entire package or what? I would like to know as well but haven't been able to get a concrete answer. I guess I should just not question it too much though.

You might want to try to see what it would be for POR. I think it may be because there are more rooms there, and therefore more inventory, that the will discount them more to fill them so you may be able to get a cheaper price. It's definitely worth a try!!

POFQ is not newer. Both have undergone refurbishment but French quarter was the first one and Dixie Landings was built later, [what is now called Port Orleans Riverside]

I have always preferred POR.pirate:
