New here and trying to understand some things about resale better.

We just bought resale in October 2022 after our April 2022 trip and realized WDW would be an every year thing for our family. I actually found out about this forum after submitting our offer for a contract. I have personally spent no less than one hour a day since then on research, planning, etc. The savings on our resale was enough for us to be okay without the perks of direct or having access to the new Poly tower. The math for making direct versus resale “work” can be a bit squishy. Meaning, I can claim to have saved $22,220 by using the $250 a point that Disney would charge me for Poly direct or I could say I saved $12,760 if I used the $207 that was offered for GFV at the time of our purchase. Either way, I thought the savings was worth it, but I have read enough on these boards where buying direct makes sense. Only you can make that decision. Even with those savings, it was still an expensive purchase that forces me to take an expensive vacation. But it is less expensive if I were to try to replicate the same vacation with cash. We have our first trip in August and DVC will save us $7000+ on the accommodations. We also love the Poly theme, so we bought where we wanted to stay. There's not just one right way to buy or use DVC.
