Oh that staining issue is just NOT RIGHT!
For the price of that bag, it should not be doing that. How incredibly cheap. That really ticks me off.

Some people are paying upwards of $700 on Ebay for one of those. Imagine!

I agree. I had to wake up at 3am every morning for 2 1/2 months just to nab this bag at list price. So I'm quite upset. I'm really hoping it will stop after awhile. At least I was able to get the stains out of my coat, after washing it twice.

The way Disney's handled this bag is utterly insane.

From the incorrect information all of their staff has been giving us, to causing people to pay $700 on eBay prices and making scalpers buy the bags, and now the staining?

Plus the disney store facebook customer service still refuses to comment on anything related to the bag. So much for pixie dust!

Have those of you experiencing the staining issue contacted Disney or Dooney? I'd start with Disney, since you purchased it with them. You did pay a nice price for this bag, after all, and you don't want this staining everything else you carry in the bag (or you!). It's always best to report things sooner than later (and document). And, they probably would like to know if there's an issue with the bags. At least, I'd hope they'd like to know. Good luck!

Wait. So is the lining of the HM bag red SUEDE and not the usual red cotton fabric the other Disney Dooneys are lined with?

As far as the red suede... My bag is red inside, but mostly a cotton material. The suede starts at the upper loops (that the tassels hang from) to the top of the bag where the zipper is, which I fold down to make it not as tall. So basically, the suede is folded on to itself. The bottom (where my stuff is) and the pockets are lined with the red cotton material. I haven't had an issue with the staining.

I bought my bag in DHS during our last vacation, which was the end of Nov through early Dec. (can't remember the exact date I found it). Don't know if they changed the way they are made since then, just letting y'all know what mine is like. I love it! (I sidelined my Burrberry bag in favor of this one! )

No problem! I can't tell you how happy I am with this bag, I simply love it! Oh, and by the way... if you don't fold down the upper section, it is large enough to pack for the weekend! (which is why I fold it under.. )

I have only had 2 people ask if it was a Disney bag. I love it that I can carry a purse and people not know, it's like my own little Disney secret! I know I have found a new friend when someone recognizes it though!

The top 6 inches or so is suede. The rest is the typical cotton. Mine hasn't stained anything yet but when I read this I tested it out by rubbing a white napkin across the suede and it did indeed turn pink :-/ not what would expect for $330.

I have been carrying mine since the first of December and have not had an issue with the staining. Like I said earlier, I did fold down the upper section (where the red suede is) just to make the bag smaller, so that may be it, but no staining what so ever. I love it!!

Yes - this is what mine is like. The only items stained at this point were an accordion folder I used to carry some paperwork to a meeting (not something I cared about) and a sleeve for my ipad (I bought it for function, not beauty, so it doesn't bother me too much). I admit, it annoys me. And I suppose I could call Disney and complain. Sending it back isn't an option, since I'm not likely to get a replacement. And I love the bag otherwise. Not sure how I'd feel if it stained something I really cared about.

Good question! Had I never seen the bag in person and found out about the staining I may have moved on and not bought one. For the price there should be no color leaking out of anything. Period. But, having the bag in my hand, I'm i love and I don't care if it stains anything. I don't often wear white so that is not an issue for me. My wallet is black so no issue again. That's really the only thing that comes in and out of my bag frequently. My iPhone is white but I keep it in the front flap pocket for easy access so it will never touch the suede anyways. They may come out with something even better this year for the 45th anniversary and we will be all wishing we had waited but who knows. Hindsight is always 20/20.

I got an email from the Disney Store asking for a review. I gave it just four out of five mickey heads because of the staining. Honestly, it's just about perfect for me in terms of size and everything else. I'd have bought it even knowing about the staining. But it does annoy me from a quality control perspective.

Haven't seen the IASW bag. I'm definitely not going to try to find one, since I have my HM bag. But I have such sentimental attachment to that ride, since it was my dad's favorite. We always had to ride it first thing when we got to Disneyland, and it was the last ride we went on before we left the park.

Are there new ones? I have one each of the past Small World LeSportsacs? Are those what you saw or is there a DB Small World bag?

While I don't have the HM bag, I'm wondering if spraying a little scotch guard on the suede might help with the fading? It would also help protect the suede should it get rained on.
Just my thoughts.
