Hi all, I just wasn't able to get my homework done in advance and tomorrow we plan to go to universal to see the new Harry potter area. We have seen the 'old' Harry potter area twice now and are hoping to catch up on what's mostly new (although ds would love to ride the 'old headliner ride). does anybody have any tips for us? Im not even sure what there is that's new, or what the big headline (aka lengthy line) attraction(s) to be aware of. It is me, dh, and ds, 9. We have a park hopper pass from Costco with one day left. Any help, ideas are welcome!

This is a great site and resource to get your fill of homework answers. It appears that your post was late yesterday and I for one just read it.

I hope you are enjoying the new HP area today. Sorry you did not get the lowdown ahead of time, though.

Write back to let us know how easy or hard it was to navigate without the advance info.

Thank you woodie back for your advice. So we made it to universal by 8:45 only to find out that us opened at 8am today! Yikes! So already behind the 8 ball, we made a beeline for gringotts. The wait time at that point was about 45 minutes, so no biggie to us. We waited about 35 minutes, made it to the elevator and once we got off the elevator and we're just a short distance from loading onto the ride, the ride shut down! So we got an express ticket to come back anytime until about a week from now (not an option for us, we were there only for the am). We rode the train to hogsmeade which was fun...took the train back then went back to gringotts. Got in with our special tickets and made it to just before the elevators bit he ride shot down again...so that was it for us. We left disappointed. The whole diagonal alley area was so cool though and we did enjoy the scenery. Hope to make it on the gringotts ride one day soon!

I'm so sorry you had to go through that! We had the same issue with Gringott's on our first day. It was down for most of the day. Thankfully it came up 2 hours before closing and we were able to ride it.

When we rode gringotts it kept breaking down so I guess the best thing to do is try riding it first just in case it does break down. Park opening old universal is 8 am since it closes early for hhn. You can only ride the train if you have park hopper so recommend doing that. Different scenery each way. They sell wands that if you stand in certain areas things will happen. I feel that it is hard to dind diagon alley if you are in the old park. No signs for it. I know the reason why since I saw the movies but unsuspecting guests might not even find it.

I had the same questions. I hope I don't experience the troubles you had. I will be there in November and am wondering from your experience, how did you get back and forth on the train. Did you just stay on and do the return?

You have to get off the train and get back in line to go back on the train.

We have a park hopper pass from Costco with one day left.

Is this something Costco is still doing?! We are thinking of going to HP and would love a way to do it cheaper!

And if you don't mind me asking, how much was it per adult?

Thank you so much!

Yes, we had to get off the train and then re-load back on. It was not too time consuming and we wanted to walk around the other Harry Potter area also.

The Costco tickets are very elusive. We bought them probably 2-3 years ago. They were 3 day park hoppers that expired about 2 or 3 years after original use. In fact, we went because they expired on 12/31/14. I don't recall how much they cost. They were definitely worth it though and allowed us to go 3 separate times as a little diversion to Disney.
