New Gratuity Policy???

Hey did you read this on the boards? >NEW GRATUITY POLICY: Beginning on January 1, 2008, DDE will have 18% gratuity added to all transactions regardless of party size.

I think it kinda sucks with all due rspect. Suppose the service wasn't the greatest? I'm still expected to pay 18% ? Plus ,,,who tells me how much my "tip" is going to be if its just myself dining....WRONG!!!!!!! I'll just call my credit card company and mine will remove the whole bill. Not to be mean but,,,Sorry,,,Gotcha there Disney. ºOº

I'll probably save money on that deal...Cause I would always round up.

I hate that fact that the tip is not included in DDP and they took
away app or dessert.

Disney did not take away "app or dessert". They removed the appetizer from the Dining Plan; dessert remains.

And the OP should be aware that despite vague wording, this change applies to ONLY Guests using the DDE card/discount.

we use the DDE card and have been tipping roughly 20%, sometimes a tad better. I guess this new addition will save us money, but it doesn't feel right forcing a certain amount onto the bill.

Folks, as has been posted, this policy appears to apply to DDE members only. It was disseminated in an email to DDE members and seems to have been promptly misunderstood. There's a sticky combining the original threads and I am going to close this one so we don't get lots of threads on the board on this topic.
